The newest videos getting post looks like the game is starting to flushed out. I was thinking about pre-ordering to get into the beta. Is it worth it? Are there servers with people playing? Is fun?
I love me some NS that's for sure. I wanted to get some feed back. When I came to the forums the first post I seen was some guy whining about wanting his money back. Want to hear some feed back from those who love the game.

If you enjoy seeing a game grow and flourish before your eyes like a beloved embryo and get progressively more excited as you indirectly feed it's growth, forming and shaping its development as it becomes more beautiful and refined by your own manipulative causality. Then yes, go and try the beta.

if you want to support the devs sure, but dont expect anything like ns1. game has been almost completely revamped for whatever reason.

I just love how this game is shaping up to exactly what I think of what would be a perfect game, you just need to be a little patient for the end product, I'm waiting mostly for the improved dynamic infestation, I'm so excited about it! Thanks Koruyo, and NS2HD. (love your videos by the way, keep up the accent/good work!)
I'm looking ahead, I'm hoping this game gets DLC after it's released, hopefully free gameplay altering/improving/adding DLC. but to support development, purchasable non gameplay effecting aesthetic DLC. I would gladly pay 5$ for a skin pack for a game I love.
if you where a ns1 fan get it and support the developers ! game is getting better and growing by each patch. i dont know why people say its not like ns1.in my eyes its very similiar to ns1 but with more great features added to the game. its a new whole engine which fits very well to the ns world. i love it !
PS:its also a chance to thx the developers for the many hours you played ns1 and had fun with it.
It depends what you're looking for, i'll say this though, don't go looking for a finished game. That being said, i think UWE team has done a good job so far, it's not an easy task building a game from scratch... Things are moving fast now :)
only consider the beta if you have a high end machine. going from a 6 year old off-the-shelf PC to a self-made PC with 2011 tech made the beta as smooth as a triple A title.

i can actually play it on my laptop with a 128MB gpu. I admit that the performance is not great, 20fps, but its way more that i expected and way more than i had a few months ago. I wonder how much it will be when the new occlusion culling gets in :)

People have said the GPU doesnt matter much since NS2 right now is mainly using processor power (or is it the other way around?)
My laptop has 512MB gpu and dual core 2.2MHz processor, and 4GB ram. I get around 10-20 fps during normal gameplay and can get above 20 in some areas like vents or playing as commander. If your processor is 2x 2.5 versus my 2x 2.2 that might explain why ur fps is a bit better.
You're welcome to buy me a new £1000 laptop :P otherwise I will continue to play at the 'unplayable' rate of 20fps and hope for future performance increases.
The fewer people to play the beta the better. What we want are only players who will not be turned off the game because of it's pre-release state, and also, we want the largest possible community to play on release. The more that play before this will only lessen the eventual NS2 audience.
Personally I do not play the game just yet, I occasionally play every 5 or so patches just to gauge progress, but in reality, I feel it's best to reserve all initial NS2 game hype to release where the largest body of players will be doing the same, cementing an early player base that will then expand as optimally as possible. This is not because of the game, but for the eventual maximal growth of NS2.

There's a difference between fully playable and "able to run the application". Which it's definitely the latter and not the former.

Go set all your games to run at 15 fps, in half-life/source you'll find this the max_fps command. I hope you have lots of fun.
