    Looks like CS gets some competition. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> (Altough I hope that NS will never become retail. Personally I wouldn't mind an NS retail if the retail version actually had some extras.

    Things like a printed manual, printed maps of the maps, the missing tutorial level of dewm, extra ingame MP3 music, a cuddly onos beanie baby would all make it worthwhile.

    NS retail would also avoid the curses of CS retail, it would have all the normal maps and everything would still have the same name (Unlike the stupid changed weapon names in CS retail).

    Good point there, but just think about what this would cause. 9 year olds would get NS burnt on a CD, and it wouldn´t be the same anymore IMHO.

    No more marine killing from above or behind without getting flamed, even less marines who are willing to listen to orders, getting called a camper when being ordered to defend a particular spot, children who demand a 1:1 all the time because they got U83R 1337 |-|/\><0R 5KI11Z...

    I could be wrong though, but that´s just the way I see it. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    i realy hate it if a mod liek this comes into a magazine
    99% of the articles in magazines are made by idiots
    and u can clearly see that this is one of them looks liek he didn't do his research on the mod
    liek the X ray specs...it's called a Hive mind

    after a second read i mod my opinion to they prolly haven't PLAYED teh mod
    just took pretty pics from 1 hr of playin (at max 1 hr)

    Oh come on, it's great publicity, and will bring in alot of people. They don't actually say it's called X-Ray glasses, they just say it is like that. Sure, you can tell they didn't spend 6 hours on the thing, but would you take all your time to review a mod you had never heard of?
  • PseudoKnightPseudoKnight Join Date: 2002-06-18 Member: 791Members
    I have to admit that they have some excellent screenshots. Do you suppose they record a game (not a demo)and freeze it on good spots when they replay the game?

    This is great for NS, PCGAMER is the biggest and most respected magazine in the UK by far, others in my opinion are really just full of pictures, hype and aren't as professional.

    Great publicity for NS <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Wow. All I can say is....WOOT! Congrats everyone.

    I'll look for this issue locally, but I assume I have to get it sent from the UK. Is the PC Gamer for the UK the same as the PC Gamer in the US?
  • reborebo Join Date: 2002-11-01 Member: 2734Members
    Its produced by the same company "Future Publishing" tho a different format to accomadate american newstand tastes so i assume much/some content will be shared.

    It's the UK edition.

    I've never heard the word "such-like" used in the states <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    The UK edition is a very different magazine to the US edition.

    I'm told the US edition is vastly inferior and quite a different magazine, far more adverts and less content.

    How... uh... lovely... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I think perhaps the reviewers writing style isn't too familiar to some people: "X-Ray Specs" is a caption to the info-box, rather than an actual heading. I.e., a semi-humorous description/metaphor/indirect linguistic pun or basic alliterative technique that vaguely describes the feature in question to any reader not learned in every aspect of NS... it is a sort of preview/review after all. I don't think anyone could be stupid enough to presume that the aliens had X-Ray Specs or presume that someone else could presume as such. Wee.

    Now that the unnecessary English vocabulary crap is out of the way: Yay! The more the merrier, as far as publicity goes. Hell, this mod is original and fun enough to bypass most "proffesional" games as it is...
