Inspiration, help?

<div class="IPBDescription">Need suggestions for an area.</div>No sure if this should be in the mapping forum or the ideas and suggestions one but oh well.

I opened spark the other day for the first time in a while and although everything has been going alright i seem to have come across a bit of 'mappers block' as it were when it comes to a particular wall, i was wondering if any of you lads could give suggestions or ideas as to what could go there or what i could do because I've tried multiple times and just ended up deleting what I created.

It's the start of the marine spawn area so it has to be fairly well lit, i've tried putting consoles there, control panels, pipes.. everything and it just seems to never fit, so any help would be grateful.

    You've got a very nice theme going on there. I trust you will find what to put in that 'hole' yourself. You surely have an amazing idea already but you are not too sure how you are going to put it together so you need to think it through, and just carry on with the whole. The hole will use the whole! Keep it up ;)

    Looks great, both in architecture, color theme & lighting. Tempting me to start up spark myself :) Ain't it a bit too alien biased to be a marine spawn though? I mean; it's a little cramped, much cover & ambush spots.

    I only started it the other day, just opened spark and put 3 models together and it's evolved into what you see so I've not exactly had much of a chance to really flesh it out (Hence the very W.I.P. look of it). Thankfully I've liked it enough to stick with it and build upon it.

    I've even named it though I'm unsure if it's taken or not, ns2_serva, if it's taken then fair one.

    It's going to be a lot more open and marine friendly, what you see is really just a small portion of the marine spawn. The thread was really just designed for anyone with an idea as to what to do with that 'hole', but any criticism to the overall look, lighting or architecture would be very welcome.

    how about a cabinet for tools? - or, as it looks well ventilated, make it an drying oven, or a freezer for alien specimens

    Well, the overall room theme is to be a computer center or server room for the 'base' that the Marines are on, but i like the freezer idea, mind if i use it later on? I have an idea that could use that pretty well, and it would tie in with the purpose of this room.

    I guess i should have really put more information up as to the theme and design I'm looking for with this area.

    Well i spent the past few hours messing about and i came up with this.

    Not entirely sure about it, it fits in with the current theme but it leaves me with a completely new issue..

    The ns2_summit texture is just a placeholder for the moment, but I have no idea in how to create my own model to replace it.

    Pipes. Pipes always work. Maybe add a console, screen or else.

    It's a marine base, I expect crates and boxes everywhere. Marines arrive and everything they have they bring with them in containers etc.
    Create an alcove and put a few stacked crates there.
