Croach Texture Mod

Any coders interested in doing a simple Croach texture mod? I would like to produce a normal map so it looks like it has some depth instead of being a flat decal. And yes I realize this is all placeholder, it's just something fast and fun that would end up improving the look of the game while the real Croach graphics are being developed by UW. If you are capable of taking a normal map texture and applying it to the game, PM me and I'll send you the actual texture map.

    ive invested a few minutes to create a normalmap and a spec map out of it. its nothing special and was done very quickly, just to test!
    anyone who is able to bring them ingame, please give it a try! :)

    ps. i imported it into 3ds max..using the xoliul-shader, it looks nice imho ;)

    Fred can you upload the Croach texture itself? I DL'd your file but it is only the normal and spec maps, and not the original Croach texture.

    That's probably the lighting on it. Could use more bumps, "veins", texture and maybe mix a few different colors in there?

    heyho,

    updated the texture a bit, added a bit more details to the normalmap and the spec map and made the spec map a bit darker!

    Thanks! It's a little bit tougher to recreate bumps without the original PSD layers but I'll take a crack at it later.

    i havent tested the new maps ingame since i havent work with the builder for a while and dont have time to get into it :(
    just copy and paste wouldnt work, you have to create a new .material file that contains the new maps

    At the moment the infestation is not normal mapped, so this can't be used in game.

    Meaning it's impossible for a modder to create and plug in a new material? Or just that simply replacing the current texture won't work?

    You dont ned to replace the current texture just add a normal map to the material file but I dont think normal maps work on Decals at this moment in time i think he is saying?

    Could be? That's why I was asking for clarification. We all know Croach is not normal mapped, that's why I made this thread.

    There is already an infestation normal map in the files, so if it could be normal mapped, it probably would be. I editted the material files related to infestation decals, and there was no effect so I assume it's an engine limitation.
