Game Loads and goes black

in NS2 General Discussion
Hey Guys! I looked through the FAQ and if i missed the answer to this I apologize. When I load NS2 I heard the sounds and can see the upper left red text and the NS@ claw marks and then my mouse comes up as it is in windows and i hear music but it just sits i've tried using multiple things to get it to let me in but nothing has help. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    The same thing happens to me every time. Just use ctl+alt+del to bring up your security dialogue and launch task manager, then immediately click on the window to re-fullscreen NS2 and the menu will work fine.

    Weird, just finished playing probably about an hour long game that ran really well for me and then when the next round starts I tried joining and my screen goes black.
    I'm still able to access the console but nothing else. Have to use task manager to kill the game.

    Same problem here. Going into any build 179 server causes screen to go black approx 10-20 seconds after joining the server. (It initially looks fine, and then the screen goes black). I can still hit tilde to make the console come up, and type "disconnect", after which I can click ok and try to join another server.

    I run ns2 in a window (as I have since the beginning). Only this build is causing problems.

    System: Win XP SP3, AMD 2.5Ghz 4850e, GF 9600GT, 2GB ram

    yes, i only installed ns2 when 178 came out which worked fine. This new build seems to have introduced this issue, as well as increased timeouts. At least for me anyway, the new build = a step back

    I was able to play a match last night just after the patch came out. Probably the best experience I've had in NS2 since the alpha started. But now it seems everyone is getting a black screen as soon a new match starts. Ready room and joining teams work fine before that though.

    I got this several times last night as well. I just alt+f4 to kill the game. 1/3 games I try it works. Kinda annoying.

    Instead of ctrl+alt+deleting, typing disconnect in the console also does the trick
