Your stoping now, when its nearly finished? Cant you scoop the project on to another mapper, thus making it a co-op project? Would be sad not to see it finished when you have come so far.
As a mapper, sometimes there's nothing worse than seeing someone totally trash something you've made. It's always best to keep it as "one for the future" when you get more time :)
I chose the spread offense layout from the mapping guidelines and i will modify it a bit, so each race has an advantage defending their base. i am also going to support that advantage with lighting and space. for example. near the alien start hive will be a pretty dark cavern, with lots of hiding places. The marine base will be more open and well lighted, with less hiding places. all other areas are going to be "normal" - some hiding places - some darker areas. Due to the limited props, it is mining and cargo themed.
@Drown: First of all, thanks for creating this thread and keeping it updated! Secondly the forum thread link for ns2_plant seems to be broken. Could you please fix it? For the description I was thinking of something along the lines: <b>"On a cold and otherwise desolate planet of Ortega lies Plant Station, where a select group of scientists pursues new ways to make planets inhabitable. Hey Drown. it would be pretty cool if you can add a direct download link to the maps. as far as i can see there are 3 alread; summit, clandestine and triad15.

Hey drown, could you add my map to the list ns2_serva. It's currently on temp hiatus while i get a computer sorted, development should start up again on it rather soon.

I thought about adding download links, but it's probably better to just let folks click through - file links and locations will change quite often. If someone creates a mappack, I'll add a download link to that though. =)
Also, I may start deleting entries that have not seen any activity in their threads.. what is a reasonable 'decay' timer? The list is quite big and there are a few I am pretty sure are currently dead...

i think many mappers want their map to be ready in v1.0. so they take their time! i wouldnt delete them yet. i would wait at least another year.

if anyone wants his map to be included in my prototyping mod, let me know please. I post this here, because ns2 servers are not able to send map files (and new textures / models) to clients.
My mod is already grown to a decent size, I made even an installer for the lazy guys (download -> install -> click shortcut to play) and i guess its the best way to spread a map.
so please pm me if you have any maps that could be ready for larger scale testing, we need some mroe diversity in ns2 :)
The egg/infestation makes sense, I was hoping infestation will spread in all directions the same distance at some point so that's what i based my placement on so as to give a few spawns a chance at a last ditch effort. This can be easily changed so i will include it in my next update.
I checked every map on the list, and about a 1/3 of them are no longer being made, or have atleast 8 months since the last update from the OP.. Down can you clean those out of there?

By using wiki everybody can update the information of their own map whenever they want. This speeds up the index udpating and is not reliable on one person like here in the forums. I jsut copied all the information from this thread to there so it's pretty outdated. If you feel like adding or updating your or someone else's map please go ahead!

I changed a minor behavior of the eggs: they die when not being on infestation.
this is not a problem with standard ns2 (currently)
edit: and I also included ns2_triad22. I hope thats no problem? i like that map aswell :)
