In order to really know when your CC is under attack as commander, how about your commander view shakes a little every time the CC takes damage while you're in it. Also fun: muffled sounds of metal and teeth every skulk bite.

I'd love for the commander view to get some visual indicators like this, making you think you're actually watching a screen instead of just a perfect 3D view hovering above the map, like most RTS's known to man... Add this shake to it, with some very mild snowy static would be awesome, nothing too extreme though! Oh and perhaps a small monitor border around the edges?
This would also make NS2 stand out amongst RTS views, you know giving it something quite good looking and unique...
Actually, you could take it further, what about if the commander could hear muffled versions of all the sounds around his CC, so gunfire, alien sounds, explosions, metal being attacked, all of it. Same goes for alien commander. Would be useful for keeping track of your base and also quite atmospheric.

I like the idea of muffled sounds of aliens/gunfire near the comm chair. It would make you feel much more a part of the world than a disembodied spirit looking down on the map.
it would be nice if you were really looking at a screen inside of the CC instead of the screen taking up the whole thing, being able to look around the CC put the HUD as click able buttons on the screen come on UWE WTB more immersion.

Yes, and I loved it, it really had a great immersion effect, especially games where you get to see more than just your gun. and what little of your hands you have, i've like if the hud looked more like it does on the model, being projected, but that's just me, i'm a sucker for sci-fi huds and whatnot. I actually liked deadspaces huds quite abit.

Even if I love that idea, I doubt that it will be implemented. It would require a whole new camera feature for the engine like there was in HL2, i.e. render a scene and put the result on a texture (the screen).
but please don't make it over the top. the commandermode needs to be playable at any point.
-1 to the Idea of showing the commanders fingers in the Commander HUD pressing buttons. that would be to distracting. It's the Nano Age, so the commander just plugs an USB cable into his brain and can move the mouse by mindcontrol ... or so.
"Lost communication with the Commander" message appears when the following conditions are met: - Active CC loses power - Active CC get's destroyed - Player who is the commander gets killed within 10 seconds after ejecting (ejecting to kill enemies in base, but he got himself killed)

This. Don't lose the UI or anything, just put in something superficial for fun and notification purposes.

Remark: Meanwhile in Kharaa land!

+1 LOS
