Let's the NS2 community decide what we believe will be the best choice.
When buying granade launcher at the armory, it feels like it's not a new weapon, it feels more like a modification. Shouldn't it be more like alien menu when you drag it to the weapon to change the weapon input??? Instead of having it as a big icon for granade launcher.
I'm not saying that it should be like ns1, having a granade launcher shooting only granades ( i like the concept in ns2).
But don't anyone agree about this:
Let all decide to let cory redesign the granade launcher and give it an epic look, a look that no one has seen before. We'll be blown away if cory did this. It would really be exstremly nice if the granade launcher wouldn't use the rifle skin, feels to repetable.

Well i think that would be ok, just pimp the LMG Model up with the nade launcher. I think we dont need a COMPLETE new skin for the LMG GL, just a "upgraded" one.
You could even have the GL version of the rifle do heavy damage like the design log said the rifle might do.
Nah not really, aliens be aliens. Weird things you shoot, because if you don't they come over and don't play nice...
However shooting an unbalanced and strangely lopsided grenade launcher, which is attached with a fragile looking piece of metal. Well that will raise a few eyebrows if not indeed make some people LOL. Did I mention the Ipod lights on marine stuff, don't get those lot started on that :P
Marines = NANITES
That would open up the ability for other attachments as well ... bayonet, motion tracker, scope.
The rifle/GL combination gives the marine more livability when he is wielding it. He is able to lob a grenade into an area and if by a chance he's other team mates die, he is able to fend for himself for a little bit till his team gets back to him, or until he gets back to base.
On the second hand, GL is definitely more of a support weapon, shouldn't really be used to attack and kill aliens, hell if it does, good stuff but I always found it as a support weapon to destroy all the infestations and alien buildings.
The one who has the GL should always be the one who's in the back of the group being protected by any attacks. If the GL is used with teamwork like it should be, than there's isn't as much of a reason to have it as an attachment to the rifle, but sadly.. for the most part that is not the case.
So like I said, it's cool that it is an attachment for the rifle, but if you're in a game and there's teamwork and such, there's no real need to have something to protect yourself, since you should have your team there to protect you.
Feel free to try though, I'd like nothing more than to be proven wrong in this respect.

I also don't think grenades as a primary weapon make sense, as an effective antipersonnel grenade launcher is a noob tube, and nobody likes noob tubes.
Therefore, the logical approach is what has been done, put the grenade launcher as a secondary function on a primary weapon, the problem is that the rifle is a very bad primary weapon, fix the rifle, and you fix the grenade launcher.
Basically the rifle lacks a perk, it's range bonus is rarely useful, something like doing heavy damage would make it an excellent counterpoint to the shotgun, and because this is the GL you're talking about it's a buyable weapon, so you can balance it with price.
Maybe like in ns1, you had to research to get granades. So likely it would be like be able to research your weapons for attachment.
If you're alien and have 2 hives, then you get 2 ability. If you get the third hive you'll get final abillity. (like in ns1)
But haven't you notice about marines having more then 1 command center, hopefully it will be the same thing. When marines have 3 command centers then can use all their attachment for each weapon. :)
what? no no, of course we gonna have HMG in ns2 right??? , why bother having heavy if we dont have hmg??? :(
The heavy is the Exo. And the HMG has been replaced by the Minigun and I believe they are developing a railgun for the Exo to use as well.
What the hell? Did you only read half of what he said?
