<div class="IPBDescription">If possible pls</div>Anyone who has some spare time I am sure I am not the only one who would like to see this put together. If we could have them come up as diff colors in alien vision even better. This could really be some interesting gameplay!

Until we get auto-downloading, all mods are a waste of time as nobody will play them.

I think a total conversion mod actually might get some players if its easy to sync to the server (such as using a svn).

And clientside mods really dont need any auto downloading...
And neither does many of the server mods, as they can be run even on normal ns2 clients.

There are better human shooting human games out there IMO. We need Predators!

I think multiple skins support on models (i.e. Team Colors) is going to be needed before something like this can happen; otherwise, you won't be a to tell friend from foe. I know this is a planned feature, but who knows when Max is going to have the time to put it in.

It should be possible to do MvM/AvA mods without clientside modding.

EDIT: Tried it out, and here are the issues with it:

    1. The game refuses to start with kTeam2Type = kMarineTeamType // Have to use the hotloading system to change it during runtime instead
    2. None of the maps are set up to allow MvM combat (Team 2 won't have a CC unless you edit the maps as such the alien start hive is neutral type)
    3. Both teams can build in the other's base, as such, it's possible to set up sentries in the other teams base. (I know this is sort of already possible for marines, but it's significantly easier when both teams rely on power.

I didn't try alien vs alien (though in retrospect, I should as it would probably work a lot better, removing issue 2 and maybe 3).

EDIT2: Okay. I tried AvA, it works a little better I guess. Issue 2 and 3 are resolved <b>for the most part.</b> There are some bugs such as:

    1. Hydras/Whips refuse to attack enemy units/structures.
2a. Infestation has some odd properties, cysts consider any infestation friendly, so cyst can be built on enemy infestation however, this isn't that big of a problem, because...
2b. Cysts require nearby cysts to build still, to achieve the bug in 2a (building cysts in enemy base) you will need to use a friendly Gorge to place a mini-cyst in the enemy base, from which you can grow more cysts.
2c. Structures can survive on enemy infestation. For the most part, not an issue as offensive structures don't work, however this means cutting off infestation is pretty much useless too. The only way to resolve is to actually kill the enemy structures. Killing cysts is still useful to preventing the enemy growing new structures, but it's only a temporary solution.
    3. Lerk > everything. The lerk spikes are so powerful it can almost solo a hive without running out of adrenaline. A single lerk will take out a crag/whip/shade/havester/egg in a matter of seconds. Lerks is nearly impervious to other aliens, although every alien can still find ways to attack the lerk, it's very difficult. Lerks will be needed to deal with enemy lerks.
    4. Hivesight works for any alien all the time. All aliens will provide the green blip as long as they are nearby and behind a wall. This will turn into a red blip if they are nearby but not behind a wall (although it will only appear for a second before fading out).

It looks like more issues, but it's actually less problematic than MvM. Most of the issues are minor.

Like Zuriki I also played around with a MvM modification. I fixed a few problems so that it was possible to spawn for the second Marine team with a CC at the Hive position. Also I didn't had problems with building, each team could just construct his own buildings. The biggest issue was that sentries didn't shoot at the other Marines. The simple reason is that unfortunately the target code of the sentries are coded to explicit attack aliens and not just the "other team" (same problem for the hydras I guess). I had problems to fix that in a short time so I canceled the work for now. Would the code be just a bit more general we could implement MvM or AvA with just changing a single line. But of course further work would be required i.e. different team colors, balance adjustments and so on.

you can check the TargetCache. There is a table somewhere in which you can write the classnames of your targets

Thx Schimmel I found that table, maybe I will give it a try.

Oh, man i remeber good times on AvA in NS1. It was pretty unbalanced but super fun to play. (AvA combat ftw.) I still play it sometimes with friends because we don't have NS2 yet :/

I Hope that someone will make this awesome mod.

AvA maps for NS1? Where? Never saw one only co_mvm and even ns_mvm but never ava.

    Edit:
After some searches on google and some forums i really found co an ns aliens vs aliens.
    <a href="http://www.nsmod.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=18978" target="_blank">http://www.nsmod.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=18978</a>
Now lets find a server that runs them.

There is also a little thread pinned about how to make ava maps (atleast for NS1) maybe it can help on NS2?

The thing that you found (nsmod.org forum) - those were my maps xD
    (I was a mapper back in NS1).

If you want some NS1 AvA Maps, tell me i can post working links to them.

If you want to play AvA in NS1 you need an AvA Plugin for amxx (also models) from nsmod.org.
Bots also work with AvA & MvM.

There were some Alien vs Alien maps (NOT made by me) but links/downloads are propably dead.
