<div class="IPBDescription">I have to complain...</div> I just played a game on Caged where..I was able to sneak to that little "nook" behind the Marine CC. We had plenty of resources, so I went Gorge, plopped down 5 def chambers and about 6 offense chambers, evolved to a skulk and started to munch away. I got thier Comm when He jumped out to defend and before the marines could break throught My "Wall of Lame" I had single handedly and nearly secretly destroyed thier comm chair.(Actually its amazing they didnt check back thier scince the game just before I got to that spot, went fade and killed thier IPs in secret) Anyway, heres my complaint, We lost the game anyway <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo--> Why you ask? Because the marines played that stupid "out-spawn the aliens" game and had like 4 IPs so they could do it easily (they did learn 1 lesson from the previous game). They spawn, jump thru the phase and end up practically IN our spawn and just shot the weak-as-all-crap-skulks as they spawned SLOWER THAN MOLLASSES. I swear, for every 1 skulk that spawned 4 marines came thru the phase gate after being eaten. Maybe the Aliens need an Infantry Portal equivelent so they can spawn a little faster.
Another game I played...The Aliens took out the marine CC and IPs leaving only 1 Marine with an HMG he couldnt get ammo for! and 3 or 4 Fades to go kill him. Well, while we were killing his base, he was killing our hive. SO because aliens DIE AUTOMATICALLY we lost. The ironic thing is that the "countdown" is supposed to prevent prey from hiding from the hunters.
I really do have to say...this Countdown thing is **obscenity**! Dont change the game just because 1 guy out of every 5 servers happens to be an **obscenity** and camps in vents. Remember that most of us ARE NOT llamas and shouldnt be punished because some other guy is.

Shouldnt IPs become inactive if the CC goes down? Also, Shouldnt Marines lose control of the bacterial network gridlock if they lose thier CC? shouldnt the Alien Bacteria take over and kill any marines scince thay have no control over the nanites? If so, I think any remaining Marines deserve a countdown also!

I was playing on ns_caged yesterday (took over from some guy that didn't know what he was doing), and threw down a backup CC right as mine was destroyed - the one guy left built in, threw down an IP, and was able to get a few of us to respawn before we lost.
If the marines were bum rushing your Hive and couldn't build up anywhere, why didn't you go take another Hive? They wouldn't have been able to put a phase gate down there without a CC, and you would have all respawned faster.

As true as that may be, keep in mind how annoying it is when there IS a llama that's hiding in a vent. Once or twice, I swear we could've gotten another game in during the time that it took the marines to find some Lerk being a jerk. Haha, that rhymes! Ehm. Anyway.

What was the "egg idea?"

a) marines can respawn faster than aliens if they build several infantry portals.
b) aliens all die if they lose all their hives whereas the marines do not if they lose all their CC & inf portals.
just got to play the game as best as you can and hope that things improve in certain areas...
Oh, I know this well.
Such as the last time I played NS_HERA, aliens had 3 hives, I was a marine. We were holding them back, barely. We had holoroom. I grabbed a jetpack and welder, and took out (All by myself) the ventilation-3C hive, and the archiving hive.
One more, we could have won. I tried to push the advantage... but my team didn't secure either of the remaining hives, and didn't help me take out the third... some teammates tried, most notably my guildmates, but most (Including the commander) were just too new, too dumb, or too lazy to help.
In the end... we lost.
They killed us as we spawned...it sucked
Builder alien has the ability to barf up an egg, and the aliens can spawn from that as well as from the hive.
What about a sort of "distress beacon", that can be triggered by the hive going down, or by a builder, that respawns all aliens from the eggs?
This is a REALLY nice idea.
Also, that alien countdown timer should be applied to marines also, or taken out. A simple soultion to killing llamas in vents, is going to the Ready Room and asking the llama's former teammates where the llama was last hiding.
