Nuclear Dawn has gone beta

Nuclear Dawn is another game that meshes RTS and FPS gameplay together so I guess you could consider is a competitor to NS2. It's going to have a month of beta then will be fully released.
I have played it for about an hour and so far it is pretty good.
First of all you have 4 classes each with 2-3 primary weapons, only 1 weapons is available at the start with the rest being reasearched by the commander. You can add things to items which are dictated by rank rather than research like armor piercing rounds or health regen (at the highest rank).
It doesn't have many bugs, the only ones I encountered were the button to respawn acting up and I had to rejoin the match twice.
The 4 classes are stealth, soldier, heavy and support. I mostly played soldier and he is effective with the standard rifle and grenades, he can also have a sniper rifle or a grenade launcher/shotgun combo.
I haven't played as a commander yet but they advertise it as a full RTS experience though vehicles will be added later (source is meant to be crap for vehicles).
The net coding seems pretty good as there was no noticible lag with 120 ping which is unusual for me.
To cut it short it's shaping up to be a pretty good looking game and may be worth some attantion.

THAT SENTENCE CONFUSES ME SO MUCH.
Didn't know it went beta. I was interested a few years ago but have no idea what the game is supposed to be like now!
Sensible question:
Is it a "beta" as in "major developer releases a demo but calls it a beta so people pre-order for it; playable" or as in "a proper beta- feature incomplete, don't really enjoy the experience but get a feel for the game ala NS2; not really playable"?
The former from what I gather.
The game looks a lot better then what I was expecting, but then I wasn't expecting very much after seeing some of IW's early media. I am interested to know how big the community is but not enough to pay $22.50 to find out.
Heh indeed, tactics are tied together with map memorization and skills are kinda similar to twitch reflexes... The world is spinning!
Simply just added some Points you have to Cap to gain Ressources.

I want some freaky things in a game. Something like Blink. Or Devour!
Pretty sure they just say whatever the hell they want to. They claim their RTS side isn't diluted or dumbed down like other RTS/FPSs. I made a thread asking how that's possible and what separates ND from everything else. In my OP I said I've read everything out there (I have) but the first dev to reply simply said "read our FAQs" The thread then went on with me asking 'how is ND different from any other RTS/FPS?' with fanboys listing the standard RTS/FPS elements (research, giving orders, etc) and developers constantly dodging the question. It was really annoying and in the end I determined if they couldn't actually give an answer as to why their game is different then it's not. It's just worthless marketing hype.
I want an RTS/FPS that doesn't dumb down the RTS aspect. Not sure if ND is it.
Wait, you want DotA the FPS?
This is a theme with them.
To me it feels like a Source mod. It definitely has that X-factor- whether it's a lack of polish or something else that makes you think 'a group of mates made me this for free'.
A good way to kill a few minutes but unfortunately I can't recommend spending money on it.
