Its All A Matter Of Timing...

I know there are a million balance posts out there but hey, this is my first one and everyone deserves one right?....right?
Anyway, its not that I really even think the game is unbalanced, after the alien carapace bug was fixed I can actually kill fades more often, the only problem is that I think aliens get fades too early, and its not that they get one or two either they get their whole team who had been saving their RPs so as not to drain the gorges income.
To put it simply, both marines and aliens get a hive around the same time, which sounds fair except that aliens get fades but what do marines get, some more resources yes but not fast enough to cover all the defences they are building at the hive and upgrade to HA/HMG which is unoffically the fades counter-part. So the next part of the game is the marines frantically defending long enough to get HA. The problem is defending has costs too, health packs, outfitting new marines, rebuild/repair defences which also makes it hard to research HA. This is normally the point when the outcome of the game is decided. If the marines can hold, the game goes back into equilibrium if not they lose.
I guess to sum it up, it think that marines and aliens having both secured a hive and approx the same amount of resource nodes should get HA and fades at approx the same time but as it is fades come out earlier.
What i'm not saying is that fades are unbalanced, I know that even 2 LA marines under the right conditions can kill a fade, but if their whole team minus say 2 gorges are fades (which is often the case) then you need marine players = 2x(alien players)-2 which of coarse is hardly balanced.
Whats the solution... I dont know, maybe making hives slightly more expensive, thats really all up the the dev team I was just trying to make a point, do with it as you will.

You SHOULD have at least HA or HMG by the time they start getting Fades, either before, or shortly thereafter depending on what you've researched and how fast your commander is.
If you are getting assaulted by 3 or 4 Fades, you can pretty much kiss your life good-bye. The thing is, although they have acid rockets, you have a much better range advantage. Have the commander spam health packs everywhere while you take them on with long ranged weapons. You can scare them away to a D chamber/Hive or kill them, depending on what they have as upgrades.
Wrong. Their strengh is those claws. Claws Claws Claws Claws.

The problem is, you need to be out getting a fair amount of resource advantage as the marines, or there's no way you can get Jetpack + HMG fast enough to compete with the aliens. This is something that a lot of commanders seem to forget (me included) during their rush for a hive. It's a difficult balancing act. One that I'm still working on grasping fully as comm.
If you have average (yes, the majority is the average, apologies to the good ones) then they seem to be obsessed with Acid, and get themselves chewed up with HMG fire. Either that or end up causing minimal damage all the time, as the HA's weld each other back to health.
