Will reinstalling Steam on my pc make me lose natural selection 2 access?
Steam is acting dumb: if im with internet connection it says "conecting to 'my account'" and then nothing happens and it just freezes... if i go into offline mode it gives 2 error messages, one saying it couldnt do such feature while on offline mode (LOL) and another saying that it couldnt connect to steam.... WTF?????
So, the only way i see now to try and play ns2 back again is to reinstall it, but im not sure if i keep the game with me.

You game access is determined by your steam account, so assuming you use the same account all of your games are thier
I looks to me though somethings wrong with your connection, not your Steam. Did you get a new router or something along those lines?

Sh**, so i will ned to redownload :CCCCCCCCC it took me damn 3 days to download ns2 and 2 days to download tf2 :S
Heh, indeed you will have to redownload EVERYTHING. Unless you still have the *.gfc files in your "\Steam\SteamApps" folder if this is the case (which I doubt). Steam will simply extract the files once more... I guess anything in the "common" folder would be removed in any case once you de-install Steam though...
I'm actually not sure if Steam completely removes all of the content in the folder, I've never re-installed steam, so yeah. But it seems logical the folder is indeed completely removed alongside the de-install... Wouldn't be much of a uninstall if it didn't do that very thing :P
Here's something that's related to login problems among other things for Steam. It doesn't help you now, but its something to keep in mind for future problems:

And everyone on this little planet of ours obviously has a broadband connection
Most fail post ever. 10 minutes are enough to download 10mbs.. or less..
(i even had once a download speed of 10bytes/second.... amaazing.) but my average is of 25kbs.
Info yourself before suggesting. Im paying for the top service here, 40€ month for unlimited bandwidth, and they announce 7,2mb/s.... but the best i've ever had with this net was 400kbs once.
That would suck, not sure why you bought a online only game then. I don't see you getting much better than 300+ ping with a 25kb connection, that's slower than a 56k modem connection lol. Out of curiosity what is your normal pings in a game?
Why do i think of this? when i finished downloading ns2, kaspersky anti-virus detected suspicious activity from ns2.exe, comparing it to a pdm.keylogger..... srsly, if uwe put a true keylogger on my pc, i cant believe in anyone now in this world :C

That's just the new security system called Steam Guard
And no UWE doesn't include keyloggers...
NEWS; i reinstalled, entered nick and pass.... instant freeze....
And if i make a new steam account i will lose the goddamn ns2 :S
However, i managed to get steam working, but ill have to re-download the ns2 indeed -.-'. i also checked for acc changes or something that could indicate hacking attempt and i think thats ok too.. but im still afraid of that keylogger (im not putting fault on uwe, im only getting sneaky at this steam system..)
See you ns2 players on (3 days later....) = thursday or friday :(
Try to rebuild an older version if you use Win 7. Maybe you can restore some folders.

Lol, that's because you aren't paying for 7.2mb/s, you are paying for 7.2mbits/s which would give you less than 900kb/s assuming your connection isn't shared.
Also, Steam connection issues are usually a result of router/modem problems, in my experience. You might want to run through the advice listed here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article...=6776-MYXU-0480
With your router, you also want to make sure that the ports listed here are open: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article...=8571-GLVN-8711
You might want to post what your router/modem is, too.
Your first option is to verify your game files if it's not starting properly.
Right click on the game Natural Selection 2 in the steam library list.
select properties at the bottom of that menu.
Then click the tab at the top Local Files
Then click Verify the Integrity of the Game Cache.
It will check that your game files are correct and not corrupted and will redownload only the files it needs if they are corrupt or missing. It's much quicker, a couple of minutes at most.
If Steams the problem run the repair feature in steam. By redownloading the steam installation file and running it. It will detect steam already installed and give you and option to repair the steam platform. Doing the same as above but for the steam platforms files.
As for your Internet speed issues try changing your clouds download source.
In the Steam Menu at the top EG: Steam/View/Friends/Game/Help
Select Steam then click Settings
From the tabs at the top click Downloads + Cloud
Make sure you have your country selected.
Try changing your download region.
You may already have the best region selected but try some others you may get lucky.
I find changing my region to Califorina when a new patch is released boosts my speed significantly. Then I change it back.
I know this to little to late but I hope this helps in future.
TBF I dont like feeding donkeys or trolls, but he has a point, it is assumed that everyone has a bb connection in this day and age. NS is actually 1.5gig, so at a normal speed of about 6.5meg, it will take all of what 4mins to download, (thats a 50meg connection),
Really!
Your trolling, 'It's only 3 Gigs. It's about 10 minutes.'
Stop being arrogant

Whoa there, nelly! If you take a look at that post, you'll notice that one of the forum moderators have edited his post. Don't be fightin' the man if he's on your side pal. I do agree with you, though. First World Problems are serious business for Konata.
Tho I dont blame him at all, which ever counry he lives in, the government their needs to do something, how can a country grow with internet speeds of the dark ages !
I think steam problem was one update or so that didnt launch and then was freezing it...
Also i forgot to answer to 1 post: on ns1 i had around 240ping, now on ns2 i had an average of 80ping
1. Your ping should be different based on how far your are away from the server (so you were playing on far away servers in NS1)
2. The current NS2 scoreboard ping isn't totally accurate. Type 'net_stats' into the console and check the ping stat in the top left corner of the screen.
Stopped reading after a few posts ( why the hell should the Ping be related to the available bandwidth ?! Gnahhh stfu plz! )
like 90% of all Steam Problems get fixed by renameing/deleting the VALVE Key in your registry:
Press WinKey+R and type "regedit"
Navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE"
Youll find a "folder" named VALVE there. Rename it to somtething else
Try your Luck and restart Steam
Funny Fact: like 5 Minutes before I read this stuff here, I had to do the same ;)
