Now I can't wait to get back home to test it.
have a nice recharge.
edit: too many particles error message spam due to my emission rate on my waterfall emitters being at 50. fixed.

The game looks awesome!
pretty dissappointed with this patch otherwise though, skulks and fades are screwed, mouse smoothing is dreadful, and it takes ages to spawn at the start of a game. Still have to play marines, but for the aliens the game has gotten a lot worse, hope a quick patch will remove the mouse smoothing and skulk movement/hitbox.
edit: ah and is it me, or is the sound for hitting a rine removed from fade/skulk? I honestly can't tell anymore whether im hitting rines or not
And thanks for releasing it for the weekend you really made my day.
That's my favorite change in this patch.
Nothing has changed with the mouse. This could be related to the graphics changes however if you graphics card doesn't have sufficient fillrate to handle the atmospheric effects. You can disable them in the %appdata%\Natural Selection 2\options.xml file by adding <atmospherics>false</atmospherics> in the section that says <display>. It should look something like this:
<!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1--> <graphics>
<display>
<x-resolution>1280</x-resolution>
<y-resolution>800</y-resolution>
<quality>1</quality>
<atmospherics>false</atmospherics>
<antialiasing>false</antialiasing>
<fullscreen>false</fullscreen>
<invertedmouse>false</invertedmouse>
</display>
</graphics><!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->
Likewise for people that want to enable antialiasing (it's off by default) you can set it there.
:D En plus je pense que je vais pas pouvoir vraiment jouer avant Dimanche soir </My life>
Actually my rate of fire was lower than ever before when I played a few minutes ago... something like 1 bullet per second.
Though the server tickrate was pretty awful, and my fps even worse.

If you find the server tickrate is bad, like < 10 and you dont have many players then it's probably just a listen server. Best find a decent dedicated one.
We need an icon for dedies!
Mine too Max! It bothered me for so long, now my waterfalls look beautiful! emission rate isn't happy at 50 though, did you cap it? 30 works fine however.
That game was bad on the 30 tickrate pub.eu server too, although im not sure if that was just the map (tram).

We definitely heard reports of "slow alien spawning" in our playtests. I tried fixing it before we released it couldn't quite figure out what the problem was. I thought it was the egg spawn rate with large numbers of players, but I double-checked that. I think there might be some bug with aliens needing to wait a long time to spawn, even when there's an egg available?
It got so close to the deadline (these changes must be tested) that we decided it was more important to release it than hold it up for this. I'm sure we'll address it with a fast follow-up patch once we figure out what's happening.
Thanks, disabling atmospherics worked. The mouselag is gone and movement feels better too.
However, I have a pretty good PC, better than most of the people I play with. i7 4.2ghz, 12gb ram, ATI 5850. If only a tiny portion of the community can actually run it, why bother adding it? Unless there is something else wrong here?
Happy thanksgiving, and keep up the good work.
Something like : C:\Users\"Your username"\AppData\Roaming\Natural Selection 2
edit: Turning the atmospherics off did virtually nothing to the performance.
or simply type %appdata%\Natural Selection 2\ in your file browser address bar. the %% shortcuts are microsoft shortcuts that work on all windows systems

I take that back, the mouse movement is still laggy, just less so.
There is also an error message in the console that spams every time you shoot a bullet as marine (materials/metal/ricochet' couldnt be found) etc. It quickly fills the entire console for any marine.
Something in this patch has destoryed the 'feel' of the game. I cant aim properly, I cant move properly, it has a significant negative impact on my play experience. I hope you find out what is causing it and fix it quickly.
