What if rines could upgrade optics to an infrared filter and flash light...
Currently no counter to cloak except active scanning, but what if rines with infra red had A. Better vision. And B. a infrared flashlight that would show cloaked things it's shown on.
Cloak still effective because limited infra red light in both range and diameter of beam, or give it some cons to limit use when aliens army heavily depending on cloak, ie blinding fellow rines if you shine in there eyes and they have infrared filters on or something
Ideal result walking through an empty hallway when you de cloak half an onos... Oops!

In fact I'd probably play the game with IR goggles all the time.
Sure, and maybe thermovision through walls, autoaiming weapons like from aliens movie, nuclear bomb, chainsaw, mechwarrior, tanks and maybe some alien virus which kills every alien...
Seriously, whats the point in infrared filter?
Its NOT needed, i think the feeling walking through a hallway with a flashlight and hearing alien sounds is way more cooler and exciting then using BF3 like infrared filter -.-
Marines got already good and very powerfull toys, they don't need to see everything...
But maybe we will see a comeback of motiontracking and maybe not a 100% cloak. I think the NS1 cloakmechanic, greater speed results in a lower cloack, wich is better than the actual on/off state in NS2.
