Hello guys,


Is there any kind of tutorial for NS 2 ? Im really new o this game and played it ones yet but i didnt really know what to do.

Forgot something. How do i get my Profile Status so it shows that i bought the game ?

    I don't think there's a tutorial but someone may have written a guide somewhere on the forums?

    If you have Half-Life 1 I recommend you download NS1 and try that first, that will give you an idea of how NS2 will go with the structure of RTS/FPS elements, although it's not so close to NS2 it will give you more of an idea.

    NS2 in beta is set as private on Steam, so it will only show other friends on your list with it, but will not be public for screenshots or other steam users.

    Ah thats why my friends coulnt see that i am playing NS 2 :) I was worried about Steam having problems ^^
    btw are we allowed to take any screenshots or making Videos ?

    And will there be any Bots in the Future ? Because i dont have Internet every day and bots would be awesome.

    And last one... How do i get the updates ? Does Steam Download them like any other update or do i have to start the game with an internal updater ?

    I'm sorry but the tutorial and guide situation is pretty bad at this moment because most of the players have played ns1 and are familiar with the game mechanics.
    You can learn a lot by watching videos of more experienced players, I'll give you some youtube channels to get started:

    I doubt there will be bots in a long time that could handle the game with only one human player in it.

    Steam will download the updates automatically.

    Yes we are allowed to make post videos and screenshots because we have not signed any contract or agreement prohibiting that.

    But thats weired wasnt there a patch this week. And i didnt get any updates through steam yet. Maybe i will have to rightklick the game and check the files.

    Also my friends cant see that i play NS 2. They see that i am playing something but it only shows "In Game" but no Game under it. Any way to fix this ?

    You can add non-Steam games to your Steam games list so that you show up playing them, but I don't know if that works for Steam games too. Could always try it.

    (Working) bots will probably not be part of the release version. UW simply doesn't have the manpower needed to also tackle this. But they have invited the community to create bots that could then be made official. The NS community, while small, is very creative and has some pretty talented members, and more than once has community created content/code been made part of the official game. And in fact someone is already working on a gorge bot. So it's not that unlikely that we will see working bots eventually.

    The last patch came December 1st.

    I far as I have understood Steam doesn't show that you're playing NS2 unless your friend has NS2 beta access too. I might be wrong though. I think this is what konata said earlier too.

    Not at all. If everyone looked in during the alpha, tons of players would have said "this game looks like crap" and ignored the real release. The hardcore will find this game (which has been posted on sites like Kotaku and in gaming magazines already), and there is publicity out there. Anyone else will see it at launch when the millions of players on Steam will all be notified of the existence of an awesome COMPLETE game.

    If you know a friend who would really be into this and not mind the testing phase, tell them about it through chat. Not hard.
