Will my computer meet the system requirements?
So I'm thinking about pre-ordering the game and I know the beta is out and I don't want to waste my money if it's not going to work on my computer. I'm not all that good with computers so ill just write out what it has on the side.
intel core i5 processor i5-750
4096MB DDR3
1TB 3G hard drive
ATI Radeon HD 5450 Graphics with 1GB VRAM
I have no idea if they are good or not i just know i like ns1 and want ns2
Cheers

Ask him for one and test it out so you can see how NS2 performs on your rig.

Thanks, just added him on steam, but what do you reckon from what I said, you reckon even low would work?
specs :
core i5-2500k
16gb 2133 mhz ram
gtx 590
1.5 tb in raid 0
Long answer: You need a better graphics card than a low powered 64 bit piece of tin foil.
64-bit graphics cards are ideal for low powered solutions such as media/playback. Not gaming.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evergreen_(GP...#Radeon_HD_5400 <- for an idea of how it compares to other 5 series cards, at a minimum there you want the 5770. You'll also want a card with 1GB of RAM. I'm sure if you are going to upgrade so you can game, you can discuss with others who can recommend a precise card on your budget.
Since the bottleneck is in the CPU, not graphics card, your card should be fine to run this game. An i5 won't get you near 50 fps, but I don't see why you wouldn't get 20-30.
If you can play a game at that rate (which I consider playable) then I think it's worth a try.

I'd like to show you just how bad that graphics card is.
A graphics card needs a basic set of services. 64bit bus width will never play graphical games better than snail pace. The processor is good, the graphics is not.
Also: http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-5450-review/10. It's terrible.
Bottlenecks are relative, so 'generally' people playing the NS2 beta are CPU bottlenecked because they have balanced their hardware selection based on modern gaming experience. It just so happens that NS2 currently requires a much higher ratio of CPU to video card power than other games. However, that doesn't mean that his system wouldn't be bottlenecked by his video card (which is fairly poor).
WRT the op, you'll likely be able to run NS2, but I suspect you'll have poor fps (i.e. in the <10 fps range during combat). However, I'd go with acid_rains trial just to make sure (I certainly could be wrong).
ATI Radeon 4850
Intel Core i5 @2.67GHz
3.5GB RAM @2.68GHz
Also if you can wait 2-3 months the new Intel CPU Ivy Bridge generation will be launched (those are beasts from power and TDP side!) then.
