Those were great games! Thanks everybody for joining! If you have feedback about the map please write it to this thread. If you have feedback, after action reports, whatever please share them with us in here. Our team is interested and committed to hosting more events like this. Go ahead and make suggestions and tell us what you would like to see happening next. We will also provide some after action material soon. Stay tuned!
Was fun playing around in the last game. Should have kept the whips rooted by the powernode though.. Old habits of going for the com station still lurks around..

First I want to thank UWE for the great game that is NS2 and for providing the tools and assets. Without them there would be no ns2_turtle. I also want to thank team archaea and duplex for their support for this map. Without them I do not think ns2_turtle would be like it is now.
Those games were a lot of fun and I felt as if I was discovering the map. It is like I know every vertice and entity of this map by heart, but playing it was a complete new experience and it made me forget all those hours (days, months, years!) I spent making this map. Even if we lost the games, I never felt as if the situation was hopeless and there was a lot of movement and action. It really feels as if the whole map is constantly a battlefield and you never have a sens of being truly safe, yet you never feel as if the opponent has a significant advantage over you. I am really proud of what this map is and yet I do not feel as if this is my personal accomplishment but the accomplishment of many people. I feel this is truly a piece of UWE's work, as I spent a lot of time reading their guidelines and I tried to use what UWE was offering us for gameplay (powernodes, doors,..) and this map is an interpretation of all the features that UWE wanted their game to be.
So again thank you all and long live NS2!!! :D
And I want to congratulate the marines with such amazing play! I have never felt the marines to be that much of an opponent, but in these games it was really a struggle! When designing this map my first intention was to bring richness and diversity. Something that would teach us and help us understand NS2 better, and secretly put NS2 to the test. Well I must say I have learned a lot from these games and NS2 tested me :D
So, UWE keep up the good work! NS2 passed the turtle test with outstanding results! The game works very well in an environment very different from traditional NS maps. One might even called this a combat map with classic rules. And so I can say you have successfully taken the good things of both and put them together! I hope you will be able to play this map and enjoy your game on my map as much as I enjoy my map on your game :D
I think it feels like a classsic map in that you really can get lost there, and have to learn the map by heart before you can excel there. At the same time, it was very intense and always a struggle over areas like I haven't seen before in NS2. That could be from the more organised setup though.. A great map, very fun to play on. I must also thank you for the vent walk-through, much appreciated :)

I had a great time playing on ns2_turtle last night (it even dragged me away from SW:TOR early access). For those of you who missed it, or anyone interested, I recorded the two games I played from my perspective and uploaded to youtube. Here they are:

My video upload has failed twice already. The upload goes to 100% but then nothing happens, the upload is never actually complete and the video doesn't show up. We are already thinking of the new event. So far we thought about playing another night of turtle. Maybe next week's Thursday? Weekend would be cool too but there's Christmas and New Year's Eve coming up, both in weekends so it might be hard to get enough players. Any ideas or suggestions about the event and the time it should held in?

I enjoyed them vids, good stuff. Zeikko, you could try the java/silverlight uploader. Probably needs Mircosoft silverlight though and I've never used it, but it might do the trick...

I wonder what Youtube did to the videos but the FPS is very low. I had some serious lag ingame too because of Fraps but it sure wasn't this bad. It bugs me that I spent 48 hours trying to uplaod the videos again and again than the result is like this. Argh...

Didn't have the time to check your whole videos now, but from my end the FPS seems very smooth and without any stuttering at all in 1080p?
