    No, it's unforgivable that such a basic engine feature is still missing after being in development for this long. It doesn't take an army to implement that. Actually, considering their deep pockets, it's unforgivable they didn't just license Unreal 3. All the rationale behind creating the Spark engine is worthless if you need a $300 processor to push visuals that were cutting edge back in 2007.

    At one point they had $700,000 dollars in funds, $220,000 of which were from preorders. There are still six people working on this. The engine is still a disaster. Every single person I know who preordered feels ripped off, because we all payed for beta access and it runs like crap on every machine we tried. This is over a year and a half after the first playable code was given to us. No one I know has faith this game will see the light of day. Furthermore, we feel that if it does, the horrible graphics engine will kill any chance it has because no one can afford to run it.

    I genuinely loved the first game. It was the second greatest online game ever. Only Unreal Tournament was better. I am saddened to see the road these guys have taken - biting off more than they can chew, in every single aspect of development. They should have licensed an engine and hired some extra people to make up for it. Unreal 3 is the closest thing there is to an industry standard. Everyone knows how to use it, it's easy to work with and blindingly fast. Anything can pump out nice visuals using that engine, even an old 7900GT.

    Unless you are a game developer and you have written game engines before, then you don't know what it takes to write a fully multithreaded engine with hot-loading scriptable language such as LUA as the main game code, along with all the tools and translators nessesary.

    Companies such a Blizzard, Valve, DICE have engine teams 10 times as big or more. For the longest time, it was just one guy, Max. Dushan is now in teh office and is able to help a lot, he's already been working on intergrating Pysx3 which will give better multithreading for the Psysics.

    If you are patient, good things will come. Just look at the game now, it's really getting there. If you are not happy to wait any more, please ask for a refund and leave your rant at the door.

    Edit: For the record, my PC is nearly 3 years old now. Not state-of-the-art and I can run the game fine. If your having trouble running the game, chances are your PC is getting old. Any PC that's 5+ years old would have a hard time running the latest games at a decent framerate.

    I hope you also realize that the current performance is not going to be final system requirements...? The requirements will probably settle at around what Steam says is the average gaming PC (close to 2 to 1.5 year old pc's)


    This thread was just a bit of "look at my awesome CPU" (and indeed it's an awesome CPU :) )



    What hardware are you actually running on anyway, because I can run it on my 3.5year old PC and only see it getting better. Especially during build187 trough 189+ Posting system specs with FPS and the server you're playing on (use console net_stats and tell us the server tickrate as well), is very valuable information for the team, just saying "game sucks because I can't run it" is not all that useful...

    We all know the days of single developer engines are over. John Carmack, Tim Sweeney and Ken Silverman will never put out another engine written in a dark room over a one year timespan ever again. That makes it even worse that they tried.

    You don't sell a product based on a false promise. That's what these guys did. It's like saying, "We'll give you access to the beta, but good luck playing it. Recommended AMD requirements: a 4GHz processor, overclocked, because our code is jacked." That's mentioned in another thread.

    Over <i>two hundred thousand dollars</i> in preorders and getting fifty players online is impossible. Do you think I'm the only one who feels burned?

    They aren't gonna refund me. Come on man, be realistic. Who asks for a refund two years after purchasing a product? It's like I preordered Duke Nukem Forever. In 2001. When they were first taking preorders.

    Of course I realize current performance isn't finalized. But it's been baby steps for over a year. Like I said before, I have a 3.4GHz Phenom II X4 965 and a 2GB Radeon 6970. Hardly a weak PC. The framerate drops like crazy in battle, or when fog is around, and I can't enable vsync no matter what drivers I use. My GTX 460 had the same issues, minus the vsync problem. My laptop's CPU is too weak to run it but it has a GTX 260m.

    Every time I'm in heavy combat it gets so choppy I screws up my aim. I'm one of those guys who needs at least 30fps to kill stuff. Last time I checked, most PC gamers need smooth framerates.

    They have refunded everyone who has asked. I'd advise if you are so 'burned' you take it up with them.
