Flame Thrower Alt-Fire

* Melee attack. Which doesn't make sense because the FT is so heavy.

* Napalm dispenser. Not a bad idea but somewhat complicated to develop and it would end up being somewhat lame and annoying to Aliens if spammed.

Another idea I thought of is a Blowtorch function.
One of the things that really sh*ts me about the FT is how cr*p it is at destroying structures. Sure it's great at spamming flame on multiple structures which is great as a support weapon and before anyone posts back I do 'get' the point of the FT as a support weapon. However, I think that if you want to knock out a key structure quickly an ALt-Fire Blowtorch function is the way to go rather that having to waste pistol rounds or use the axe which is fine but rather slow.

The way it would work is that when you change ( Alt-Fire to switch like the pistol) to the Blowtorch the Flame that comes out of the end of the FT is concentrated in a small area only a few steps in front of the marine. The Blowtorch Flame would be a different colour say blue like a gas burner. The idea being that the flame is concentrated into a smaller area thus giving it the higher heat to burn structures more quickly. The Blowtorch might have a different sound as well.

I think this a justifiable addition to the FT seeing that it cost so much. It will make it more effective against single structures but when using the Blowtorch the Marine would be much more vulnerable to attack from the Aliens seeing that the Blowtorch flame is so small .

    what if alt-fire throws a blob of molten lava that sticks on the walls / ground and burns for some time.

    well not lava, but something similiar.

    could be good to spam around the corner rather than run and shoot flames everywhere.

    Honestly, I'm not a fan of this idea because what the secondary fire adds would deter the player from using the primary fire to douse whole areas in flame, dealing damage over time as the weapon is themed to do. I don't really want to be a lame thread hyjacker, but what if secondary fire had a very different effect?

    E.g.:

    Flamethrower secondary fire requires a ±2 second charge-up, then fires a plume of fire at a longer than standard distance which volumetrically fills it's target area. I imagine it would see lots of use scattering aliens from cooridors where the Marine team intends to push, or to get that last hit in on an escaping alien.

    This is a great idea!!
    The blow-torch/welder is a device that repairs structures and locks doors. I'm pretty sure the implementation of the welder has been on the cards and I believe coupleing the FT with the welder/blowtorch is genius!!
