Fps problems when on a team

MinkeyMinkey Join Date: 2012-01-15 Member: 140598Members
When i am on spectate, i have a solid 40-50 fps even when im flying around the map. Once i join marine or alien my fps drops to 6 fps. Anyone have any ideas why this is?

    Hi there, that is indeed a huge drop. Can you please post up your system specs? Specifically CPU/RAM/GFX Card/OS

    Also video of this happening or a screenshot would be great.

    Thanks!

    Without going into too much technical detail; spectators don't have to run a big bulk of the game code since you are only viewing the world rather than interacting with it.

    Your huge drop in FPS does seem a little steep so it would be good to get your computer specs like Obraxis mentioned so that this can be looked into.

    Graphics card is ATI Radeon HD 5700
    CPU is AMD Athlon ™ II X2 245
    Ram is 4 Gb
    and windows 7 for os?
    im kinda bad with computers so yeh. I think my comp might be alittle old but i run games like CSS pretty smoothly like around 100-150 fps.

    2.6 fps, holy sheet that's not good.

    I would say it's your processor, it doesn't look very powerful, and ns2 is very cpu hungry. Still 2fps seems a bit crazy.

    <a href="http://216.92.23.145/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+Athlon+II+X2+245" target="_blank">http://216.92.23.145/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+Athlon+II+X2+245</a>

    You could try to use the profile (open the console and type profile 1) and see what the difference is when your in the readyroom or in a team.
  • MinkeyMinkey Join Date: 2012-01-15 Member: 140598Members
    well the red bars at the bottom would reach 1/4-1/2 in ready room and in game they are just full. i dont really konw what that means lol

    Got a big drop too.
    The hit detection is way better but still low fps, and everybody on steam said the same.

    My system:
    CPU/RAM/GFX Card/OS

    CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955e @ 2100 MHz
    RAM: 4096 MB (2 x 2048 DDR2-SDRAM )
    GFX card: AMD Radeon HD 6850 Series @1GB
    OS : Windows 7

    FPS, idk i am always to lazy to type the command, but it feels like 10-15

    This is really strange. Given, the CPU is not that great, but it should still be able to produce <b>at least</b> 15fps while not in combat, probably more.

    You can pause the profiler with space, then you can drill down the different functions to see which one takes most time. play around with it and perhaps you can find out where all the time is spent.

    Thing is when i played this game like quite a long time ago, i still had like 20 fps with the same computer.
    seems like after the optimization, there was a huge drop

    I am experiencing the same problem. Even on a low resolution and the lowest graphic settings the game lags down from 70FPS to 5FPS once I leave the readyroom. I ran the profiler and it looks like rendering the shaders is what is taking the most memory. Rendering took 160ms with an 82% draw on resources.

    The two threads with the largest amount of calls were:

    Engine::RunFrame
    - Direct3DDevice::Compile Shader

    and

    RenderScene::BackgroundRender
    -Direct3dDevice::Compile Shader

    Below is the text of my dxdiag for my system specs:
