Domination Win

<div class="IPBDescription">Alternative victory condition</div>As we all know defeating the marines when they are holding their last base, and specially if they had time to research all their technologies is really really hard and takes a lot of time. This might not take so long once the aliens get the onos but a good team of marines is going to take a lot to defeat. A base with around 7 players with GLs and SGs, full of turrets and mines everywhere; it ends up being a war of attrition where whoever gets bored sooner loses.

This happened to me again (for the first time since this last update) and it just came to my mind:

Why not make a team win if they have all but one Hives / CCs during a set period of time, like 10 minutes?
I think this would force the defending team to stop camping and become offensive to prevent the opposing team to win.

What do you think?

in some video, i saw that the nuke is planned in post-1.0 and i hope it will fit this role. but it's gonna take quite a lot of time so i like this idea.

however, players should have a clear notification about this as well as some fancy non-mechanic-idea why they would be losing the match e.g. marines prepare some kind of device or kharaa prepare some way to permanently shut down all power.
problem here: anything that goes beyond a message/countdown is probably too much effort for a temporary solution and i'd prefer a nuke as the final, permanent solution. this could still be done for kharaa though, if they have no counterpart to the nuke.

The game greatly needs something like this, games which you should win but cannot win due to a strong turtle. A 5-10 minute countdown timer until the game finale activates. Where the only way to stop the timer is to take down and capture a new tech point. But if the finale activates and you manage to secure a new techpoint right after, your previous point is still destroyed but the game still continues. If you can survive.

The marines would start the countdown and as the timer reaches 0, an invulnerable nuke with a 30 second counter strike style countdown beep then explosion. Vaporizing everything in the room, even marines.

A giant rock worm using the ai pathing system spawns from the hive starts ripping through marine defenses and crushes any marines in the way as it charges straight for their command station.

Not keen on that idea. I think that if there's a strong turtle, you (as a team) should just be able to annihilate the turtle (with some risk, and cost), without necessarily winning the game. You leave the end up to player ability, not some sort of countdown or OP ability.

Honestly, the ARC fits the bill.

Hopefully, the Onos will do the same.

Marines have ARCs, Kharaa have Whips; both sides have AI units they can rush a besieged enemy with to win the game.

I guess you're right... but I find whip rushes not used as often as they should, but then thats just the commanders fault.

A huge Whip + Onos rush would indeed be very terrifying as a marine; especially if you'd been confined to your base and have been resource starved. While the Aliens have access to the entire map and have so many resources to make more whips than God could imagine.

Alien commanders tend to forego using Umbra and Cloak as well most of the time, even though they are bloody useful!

the only problem with alien structures is haveing infestation for them to advance onward too. Another alien commander strategy though, is (after having built foward crag bases and such) is to spam cysts to occupy the sentry turrets allowing aliens to move in without being attacked by them.

I wouldn't like any kind of alternate winning methods then what we have now.
I don't like the idea about the so called "nuke" either, as to me, it sounds like an alternate winning method.
Here is the link with the marine tech tree UWE released a long time ago, that's where you heard about the "nuke":
