The Resource System

I did searched the first 6 pages of resources and didn't find anything similar so here it goes, hopefully not a repeat.

Why is personal resource and team/commander resource gained the same way? I understand its a team based game, but at the same time there's really no incentive to go above and beyond in a pub and not do your own thing without really helping the team.

I think personal resource should be personally gained, say destroying enemy structures and helping build and expand rewarding a moderate amount, while killing enemy players rewarding a minor value.

It's really frustrating for me to have the same resources as some guy doing nothing useful on the team and having a terrible score, my resources are limited because they cannot do anything to help the team gain more resources. As for the competitive scene, maybe make the personally resources transferable among players.

I never played NS1 and don't know if this is set in concrete by the game developers, it's just something I find flawed and thought I should mention.

    Welcome to NS2 forums :)

    In case you didn't know, before Build 194 "Gorilla" patch, RFK (Res For Kill) was implemented for both teams. This system rewards you for killing players, but detracted from the importance of protecting resource nodes. I do agree with you that aiding your team by building structures, welding fellow Marines' armor, etc, should gain you some PRes.

    Also, currently extra PRes from players with 100 PRes (cap) would be divided among team members.

    Ah, thx for the quick reply and welcome, I just recently got into the beta as you can tell.

    That's unfortunate they decided to go about it that way, hopefully it's implemented in the future where team actions reward you accordingly.

    i like the new res system

    the bonus for wrking as a team currently is ur comm dropping meds and nanoshields on you where appropriate

    similarly wrking as a team fr aliens means a gorge is healing you or a lerk is gassing for you

    there are many things that encourage gameplay and doesnt req some bonus pres

    current res system places extra emphasis on res nodes than before

    (anyone notice that rushing to hive2 doesnt have the same effect anymore because people cant just go fade asap and support thenselves via rfk?)

    I never liked Res4Kill in NS1. But for building, welding etc. there should be res. Just my 2cent
