but marines chickened out
Well, today i hopped onto a pub, and went to aliens...
The map was ns_caged, and we started in generator
So the gorge (and 2 skulks as cover) headed to vent 1st to secure 2nd hive, while the other skulks went to harrass marines. But by the time our gorge had secured vent, the generator hive was going down. We tried to save it but it fell anyway, so we were back to one hive.
Figuring that generator had just fallen, we tried to take it back. After a good 15 minutes of skirmishing, the aliens were pushed back and we decided to focus our attention on sewer instead.
Just when had cleared sewer of marines, our hive came under siege cannon fire. We tried taking out the siege turrets, but the marines were guarding them closely, and already armed with HMGs.
Soon, our hive went down, and the counter began. I thought, "hey we're screwed GG", when it suddenly stopped. Our gorge had set up sewer hive!
Knowing that the marines would be fortifying their newly prized territory, we rushed back to ventilation, and managed to chew up the whole marine team while they were busy building their structures. After clearing the marine siege turrets outside base as well, we started work on ventilation again.
Then guess what? Sewer hive came under siege fire. Just when ventilation hive went up, 2 of us managed to go fade, then the hive went down again. By this time, the marine team had HA and HMG, while the majority of us were still skulks. Soon, they started taking our nodes one by one, and closed in on ventilation.
As our 2 fades fell to the HMG fire, someone in our team mentioned hitting f4. But we didnt.
We pushed into sewer again, took control of the hive long enough for half the team to go fade, before the ventilation hive went down, again from siege fire. Some of us then revisited ventilation, and found it unguarded, probably becos the marines hoped of simply taking out sewer and winning. Some of us defended sewer, while the other gained back control of ventilation.
Soon we were pushing the enemy back. Eventually we found ourselves closing in on the marine base, taking our third hive on the way.
Its not that the marines sucked or anything, they were fine. In fact, they were highly organised, moving in groups, welding each other, and having a mix of weapons. It's just that after getting our **obscenity** kicked for so long, we aliens had BONDED , while the marine had grown more careless due to their success, with more rambos appearing.
As we were making our way towards marine spawn (just after the gorge started building the last hive), the game ended. Why? Marines had all hit f4.
Although that was a great game that lasted well over 2 hours, the ending was abruptly cut short by the marines hitting f4. If we aliens hadn't given up, why did the marines have to? sighz....i didnt even get to build off chambers on their spawn portal yet.

Even if I wasn't in that specific game, I've been in games that were almost identical. So yes, I can testify that such is incredibly awesome.
which means, it was a good game, for lasting that long.
