[199] Pistol Secondary fire

<div class="IPBDescription">increase stray on primary fire to make it more useful?</div>is it just me or is the secondary pistol fire mode rather pointless right now? leaving the fancy laser effect aside, the only advantage is increased accuracy (please correct me if i'm wrong).
however, the primary fire is already very accurate, i can barely feel any difference in accuracy, even across huge distances. and even if i'd hit only 9/10 shots with primary fire, the increased fire rate makes up for that (unless i am REALLY low on ammo).

since you cannot reduce stray of secondary fire, how about increasing the stray of the primary fire a bit? not as much as the rifle, but just enough to actually notice a difference when trying to snipe something far away.

    it increase damage at the cost of rate of fire i think, it's useful for killing skulks if you can hit them.

    I clicked the link in your signature and typed "pistol" in the search field.

    Primary Fire: Rapid-Fire Pistol
    Function: Inflicts damage on targeted player or structure at infinite range.
    Damage: 25
    Damage Type: Light
    Fire Delay: 0.1
    Clip Size: 10
    Reserve Clips: 5
    Description: The Pistol can quickly deliver deadly rounds into flesh and bone alike.

    Secondary Fire: Focus-Fire Mode
    Function: Toggles between rapid-fire mode and focus-fire mode, increasing damage and delay between shots; the pistol also projects a red laser.
    Damage: 40
    Damage Type: Light
    Fire Delay: 0.2
    Clip Size: 10
    Reserve Clips: 5
    Description: The Pistol packs a punch when focus-fire mode is toggled on, but lacks in speedy delivery.

    the secondary fire increases dmg, by 50% iirc.

    that said, I completely agree: make the default less accurate!

    The secondary fire kills in 3 shots on an unupgraded skulk. Its reeeaaally good.

    At the moment I think each fire mode is well balanced. I typically leave the pistol on primary fire and quick switch to it when my LMG is out of ammo. The secondary fire is really good for when you see a skulk coming from across the room. It really does kill deceptively quickly.

    Indeed, 3 reliable shots over 10 rifle hit-or-miss shots any day.

    I'm pretty sure there is no accuracy bonus for enabling secondary fire mode. The laser sight simply indicates that secondary mode is on; it's just for show. I was bored and curious, so here's some data regarding these firing modes:

    Secondary fire does more damage per clip:

    <!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->           Primary     Secondary
    Clip 1       250          400
    Clip 2       500          800
    Clip 3       750         1200
    Clip 4      1000         1600
    Clip 5      1250         2000<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->
    Note that it takes 1.5s to empty a primary mode clip and 3s to unload a secondary one. It takes roughly 1.7s to reload:

    <!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->Time     Primary        Time     Secondary
    1.5s       250          1.5s        200
    3.2s       Reloaded     3.0s        400
    4.7s       500          4.7s        Reloaded
    6.4s       Reloaded     6.2s        600
    7.9s       750          7.7s        800
    9.6s       Reloaded     9.4s        Reloaded
    11.1s      1000         10.9s       1000
    12.8s      Reloaded     12.4s       1200
    14.3s      1250         14.1s       Reloaded
               Empty        15.6s       1400
               Empty        17.1s       1600
               Empty        18.8s       Reloaded
               Empty        20.3s       1800
               Empty        21.8s       2000
               Empty                    Empty<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->
    I was pleasantly surprised at my findings when taking reload time into account. During the time it takes each mode to reload, the other mode will do more total damage. This is until primary fire's third clip is consumed, where secondary mode will start doing consistently higher dps all the way through. I just hope the wiki is up to date concerning pistol statistics. D:

    secondary on the pistol is extremely useful for sniping cysts/hydras and other buildings as well, lifeforms aside... uses much less ammo to kill it.

    Useful for sniping skulks on RTs etc or hitting lerks out of the air.
