Turn off AA in your ATi control panel.

If this doesn't work, you can always just disable shadows in the console (r_shadows 0)

Win 8? Does it support NS2? Didn't know.

If all the things mentioned don't wirk, deactivate 1 GPU while playing NS2.

I had this problem running Bad Company 2 Beta. I had the exact same graphic cards as you. Two ATI Radeon HD 4870 running in crossfire. Disabling one solved the problem. I had the same problem here as well. Running with two ATI Radeon HD 6870 in crossfire. Deactivating one of the GPU did indeed solve the problem with the blinking shadows!

I also saw a slight performance boost, things are running a little smoother now. I am able to get around 5-10 extra fps right now. Really happy about the result. Thanks flood for mentioning the fix.

I'm running 12.3 and I have the flickering. Running in borderless window fixes the issue, so it's not a big deal for me.

Same deal here. I haven't tried to run the game in windowed mode so I can't say anything about that. The issue is really not that major. It was much worse in the Bad Company 2 beta where every single shadow flickered like crazy all the time. In here not all of them flicker at the same time and it appears to happen at random, sometimes they are completley normal. It is just a minor annoyance when it actually happens. It seems to be completely irregular, I haven't seen a pattern in it.

But again, turning off crossfire solved it for me so it all good here. The game is too amazing for me to care that much, and it is in closed beta after all.

Maaan..... That's disappointing. I've got a pair of 5850s running 12.2. Applying 12.2 CAP 1 fixed the prob. I'm going to be really disappointed in AMD if the problem returns in 12.3, but I'll wait for the WHQL release.

I'm running 5870+5970 with 12.2 CAP1 without problems as well. Prior to that driver version I found the best fix was to force the "Counter Strike Global Offensive" cap profile in the driver settings.
