<div class="IPBDescription">Apogee etc</div>When I was a young warthog shareware apogee games that came on 3.5 floppy games were the bees knees

Now that broadband is pretty prevalent, and these games were shareware / now abandonware certain people have popped up and kept them alive

Two of my favorites are down below:

<a href="http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/203/Alien%20Carnage%20-%20Halloween%20Harry.html" target="_blank">http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/203/Alie...en%20Harry.html</a>

<a href="http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/24056/Secret+Agent.html" target="_blank">http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/24056/Secret+Agent.html</a>

You have to emulate dos, or have a really old computer. But it's worth it, they are super fun.

[edit]
Raptor: Call of the Shadows is pretty amazing
also Castle and moreso the Island of Dr Brain were fun as ****
and of course Lemmings etc
I showed my buddy a screenshot from the island of Dr. Quandry and we all remember that ****** monkey

I played the ###### out of Ambrosia Software's games when I was younger. The Escape Velocity series still stands out as stellar games. Ares was also very fun.

EV was very cool, but I have played EVN (all storylines etc) to death it was a great purchase (as a matter of fact it's in my quicklaunch, along with Minimize everything, Dos Box, Steam, and Firefox)

I even got the plugin that makes it like EV:O and EV, as well as other stuff

ye gods I had forgotten about Halloween Harry, those games were always great.

<a href="http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/94/One+Must+Fall+2097.html" target="_blank">One Must Fall</a> was always one of my favorite old school games...

There were also all the Commander Keen games...

Instead of Raptor, I always played <a href="http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/296/Tyrian+2000.html" target="_blank">Tyrian</a> which also had one of the best worms like games as an easter egg (iirc, the code to activate it was <strike>kaboom</strike> correction: It was called destruct :P)

Does anyone remember the Night Owl CDs? They would come jam-packed with 650MB of shareware stuff, a decent chunk of which were games.

I played the HELL out of Raptor: Call of the Shadows. I bought the full version recently; much harder than I remember.

"Monkfish": you mean SAM? Secret Agent Man? The Hunt for Red Rock Rover? <a href="http://www.abandonia.com/en/search_abandonia/secret+agent" target="_blank">http://www.abandonia.com/en/search_abandonia/secret+agent</a> ? That game was so gangster it makes me look like a squarebear... I remember all of the levels shown in the screenshots. The Cube level, and this one were relentless <img src="http://www.abandonia.com/files/games/24056/Secret%20Agent_3.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />

Well aware of the keyboard shortcut brah, there was a time when my father would take the wireless mouse so all
I had to operate was the keyboard. They also sealed the CPU in a cabinet that locked (but not the power cord so I set BIOS to turn on after power failure and then induce one etc

Thansal: giving one must fall a look see. Commander Keen was a fun series, as well as 2d duke nukems

DrFuzzy: I played a ton of the early 3d stuff: Catacombs 3d, Wolfenstein 3d, Doom, DOOM II, DOOM III, Rise of the Triad, Duke Nukem 3d...

Anyone ever play f-15E strike Eagle? Wasn't that you Scythe with the crazy flight sim? Also Which night owl merits the most attention? What is your favorite weapon and stage on raptor

I even played a couple fun 7'' floppy games in my day

In addition to games that are already mentioned: I fondly remember <a href="http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/bio-menace" target="_blank">Bio Menace</a>, I only ever played the shareware version with 1 chapter. I'm kind of curious about trying the full version at some point to see the rest of the story :O

Other than that: <a href="http://www.mobygames.com/game/moonstone-a-hard-days-knight" target="_blank">Moonstone</a> is, in my mind, one of the greatest games ever and I still cling on to the hope that someone will remake it.

By the way, fans of Secret Man might want to know that Apogee also made another game was very similar to it: <a href="http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/crystal-caves" target="_blank">Crystal Caves</a>

The full version is freeware these days. The first episode is quite a lot of fun, but I think the two later ones are a bit repetition from the more annoying levels of the first.

Chrystal Caves is awesome. In my books it's probably better than the secret agent.

Also, out of all Apogee shareware, I think <a href="http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/monster-bash/" target="_blank">Monster Bash</a> is probably my all time favourite. At least the shareware episode is great.

You linked Secret Agent in the OP. What other secret agent would I be talking about?

Oh man! <a href="http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/cyberdogs/" target="_blank">Cyberdogs (1994)</a> and the newer version <a href="http://www.dosgamesarchive.com/download/c-dogs/" target="_blank">C-Dogs (2000)</a>. I remember playing the first one a ton. The later missions and enemies got tough as nails, at least back then. I'm going to find out if that's still the case today.
