<div class="IPBDescription">noitpircseD cipoT</div>So, this is really nitpicking here.
While playing a marine I have always wondered why is there a little latch that locks in place the magazine?
Has the magazine catch been forgotten?
It just seems excessive... I mean you don't need them in real life well, I was a GM2 in the navy for 3 years and some things really stick out.
I know it's a game and all it's just something that bugs me.
so if they were gone (the little latch things) ... marine reload -1 sec :)

Na, its to prevent the nanites from escaping.
But seriously, isn't that latch just supposed to get the first bullet from the magazine into the chamber?

That's the little handle on the side of the gun, you pull it to manually cycle the mechanism, same as you would an old bolt action rifle. Normally the gun will do it by itself, because modern semi/full auto guns use the explosion that shoots the bullet to cycle the mechanism as well, but you need to manually twiddle the handle for the first time you fire it from empty, and also if the round is a dud or doesn't fire for some reason, to eject it and load a new one in.
The OP is talking about the little trap door on the bottom of the magazine, most guns nowadays just have a little internal latch that holds the magazine in, and you press a little lever or button on the side to release it, same as the latches that hold battery packs into most electronic devices and that sort of thing, or the little plastic panels on the back of TV remotes. Unless you're going to be shaking the gun around a lot or using it like a club (which, actually the marines sort of do) then it isn't really needed. But it looks cool so why not have it.
