(o_O) Did I really heard it correct by cory on PAX (O_O)
Cory mentioned in pax that NS2 will be released in summer. I'm hoping that the UWE succed in that of course. But I do know at the current beta stage and the progress speed, it's impossible to completed the game to summer, based on my thoughts.

If UWE decide to release the game and it isn't optimize enough, I fear those who makes reviews will give the game bad scores. Giving NS2 a bad score would make me insane, because of the game being JUST amazing.

late summer is 5 full months - uwe is constantly on the case wrt performance - i'm not terribly worried.

i know they go hand in hand (perf & features), but i think the larger challenge is getting a feature complete & balanced game by that time. esp. balance, takes many, many game trials of users of different experience levels to get it right. As long as beta users continue to play & report issues, UWE has a more than decent shot at completing a good if not great 1.0.

Sweet, maybe this means Exo suits are going to be added soon

It's not impossible. Just a lot of work, and that's why we're all working very hard to find bugs & optimize the hell out of this game.

I don't doubt at all that they will get the game feature complete and bug free until the promised date. However I'm not very sure about the performance - the current performance should be doubled at least.

    I'm sure it will be.

The current state of the game is Amazing compared to the way it was in alpha testing. As such, im sure the same will apply to retail

As the game is right now, it has better balance, fewer bugs and more polish than TF2 does in its molested/ruined state. If it comes down to the time they planned to release it and they aren't confident, they'll push the deadline and make it better. No worries.

Well there's not too much they have to add apart from the Exo suit. After that it's pretty much balance, polish and optimization so I see it being very much doable.

The alpha was 16 months ago. We now need to see at least double that performance-increase, but now over a period of just 5 months. And servers will require at least triple.

A whole slew of alien upgrades and buildings perhaps? As someone who mains Alien (Kham mostly, which I find mind-numbingly boring mid to late game), Marines will once again begin to out tech the Aliens as the game progresses.

Ug don't remind me. TF2 was a gem on release day, now its bilge.

Good luck UWE. Hopefully this means exosuits are coming soom.

The amount of polish NS2 has gotten over the past couple of months is completely absurd. Is the game going to be perfectly balanced if it comes out in a couple months (without much time to test new stuff like the exosuit)? No, of course not. But they'll patch it.

I have full faith in UWE to make NS2 "releasable" this summer.
