The Marines have ARCs but what have the Aliens?


The Alien Turtle!

The commander can spawn the turtle for 40 ress,then he build whips,crags and/or shade on it.
Gorges can build hydras on the turtle.

The turtle is very slow but it has a good def.

The commander can control the turtle like a arc.
He can "deploy" it,it means the turtle hiding in the turtlearmor so it have very good defend but it can't move.
He can "undeploy" it,this means the turtle can walk but the marines can shoot at the head of the turtle.

If the turtle die only the armor ,with the things on it,is lying there and now it have no infestation and the whips,hydras and other things do nothing.
If the turtle alive it has his own infestion on it and it needn't to be connectet with a hive.

    I love this idea. Make it require gorges somehow (maybe one of them 'pilots' it) and i'll see what I can do about adding this.

    should just let stuff be built on an onos at the cost of hp/armor per structure. walking. onos. garden.

    No .the onos is a alien who is controlled by a player and Not by the commander.and the onos is to fast.

    what if gorges can get inside the turtle and fire hydra spikes from holes in its shell

    I honestly don't see the point of this. Aliens don't really need an ARC-esque unit; what would be better would be to use an upgraded form of drifters or something that would give aliens stat boosts for a short amount of time. Or you could let drifters explode into a bunch of goo walls to disorient marines and provide cover against turrets. Something like that

    I posted in another post about drifters stating that aliens needed something like the marine's ARC. Now that the drifters are kind of useless as of build 206 as they no longer spawn into structures, why not convert them in an ARC like creature for the aliens

    Actually, aliens already have an equivalent to ARCs in Whips. They're just not a direct copy because that's not how NS works. They don't to the exact same things, and they don't do them the same way, but they occupy some of the same areas of gameplay ("mobile autonomous siege weapon"). Do you think the developers forgot to give the aliens an ARC or something?

    I have not had any luck with making a whip mobile. Its too easy for marines to kill a cyst and thus make the whip immobile. They move slower and are not as powerful.

    Right. But that's because ARCs are ridiculous, not because whips need to be stronger. Unless you want the whole game to be automated for you, in which case I recommend something made by Will Wright.

    I always thought whips were supposed to be function like the alien equivalent of the ARC (Or at least by some sort of hybrid siege/defensive weapon). But as long as they are easily countered by ARCs and sentries and don't properly siege buildings, I don't see that working out.

    we can see the alien turtle as mobile support station to push forward as alien against marines with grenade launchers.

    This is a cool idea and I don't see it as a copy of the ARC.

    It's more like a moveable defensive fortification. You would put it in a support location rather than send it into a marine base.

    yes those are all somewhat related mechanics

    mines, I'd say, are similar to whatever the 'cyst exploding' thing is called

    the point is that there are similar mechanics for both sides, and very little good ever comes from making them both <i>more </i>similar

    if marines had an ARC which was like 5x the size of a normal arc, had normal Turrets allover it and an armoury in the middle then maybe it would be similar but it's not

    I strongly disagree. A Command Center being gorgied by an incredible amount of drifters is a sight to see; if the server doesn't completely lag out. :)

    I like turtles.

    Turtle+whips=good against grenade spam.and this is good to push forward
