Actually, its not your resolution, that kills the view, I now believe its how big your monitor is, I was playing on 320x480 to see if the resolution was the problem (I am using 1024x768) but alas, it looked the same (Albeit, lower quality) and did not have an effect on the view what so ever. Of course, I have a Viewsonic 19" monitor.

The muzzle flash is not to large, and is just fine the way it is.

It's cheating really...I mean my blue one is a tad smaller...but not by much.

Dear God. This whole muzzleflash = cheating thing has been talked to death already. I really don't understand the issue with it - I'm just as bad a shot with the flashes I make as I am with the defaults. People need to just chill out and think a little before jumping on the OMG!!! CHEATERS!!!!!1 bandwagon.

well i'm sorry i posted this if it created such a moral thing.. but HALF-LIFE ENGINE WAS made to BE CHANGED WAS MADE TO BE EDITED WITH, so lets call CHANGING MODELING A CHEAT! make the gun smaller or bigger how ever u want to do it.. soon there will be a model out for the level1 skulk so u can see what ur biting!. i'm sorry but it's not cheating how ever u look at it.. cheating is aimbots. wall hacks and all that cr8p!

Also, this little patch will help people WITH lower REZes on their monitor and which not everyone can afford these new 19inch monitiors! soo other words.. having a BIG monitor is a CHEAT! if thats how ur putting it!! coz as the dude said about the monitors higher rezes make the gun smaller and u see more?!

so how ever your putting it...... it's a cheat changing modeling? and sprites? to help the people with crappier computers!? that have it on low rez!

It depends. It's not so easy to determine exactly what is cheating and is not, but in this case, in this mod, it would be what the creator's label as cheating. And changing or removing the muzzleflash, not sure exactly which, is cheating.

The entire topic of whether or not changing a muzzleflash is a moot point. Are the NS forums the only place to get stuff for NS? No, and probably a few "cheater" sites have released muzzle flashes that aren't designed to take up a quarter of a 800x600 screen.

I'm using this cuz I can't see anything when I fire. I run the game on 800x600 and I can't run it any higher. I run it any lower and the muzzle flash will be like rapid firing flashbangs.

Ugh. That's garbage if peopl think a smaller muzzle flash is cheating. I think the whole point of playing a game is to give you the freedom and tools to do things in VR that you would never be able to experience in real life. Blinding you with a muzzle flash or skulk teeth takes away that freedom and is BAD gameplay.

Look at any of the great games of recent times: Civ2, GTA3, Deus Ex....it's all about freedom. Muzzle flash == confinment and is just annoying.

I do not consider it a cheat, just think of the model having a suppressor on it... I agree, you guys need to calm down. There is nothing wrong with what he did. It isn't gonna change the balance.

I stand corrected.

You are right, it IS cheating to use the muzzle flash stuff....I'm just annoyed that this is considered part of the game...I want to die because the skulk player was better than me...not because I coulnd't see him. I understand the logic begind muzzle flash/skulk teeth, but I also believe it's bad gameplay and a detriment to an otherwise excellent game.
