Care to give up your secrets?
I would love to see some first person videos of high level game play. There are still a lot of techniques I'm struggling with that most pro players have down.

Shooting a skulk when it's already at your feet

Combining Fade's secondary attack with shadow step (I always seem to miss the marine)

Lerking lerking lerking, tracking a marine while flying, Some of you are crazy good at this

Also, does anyone switch between sensitivity in mouse movements for aliens and marines. I feel that if I lower my sensitivty for marines I'm more accurate and I'm a better skulk if I raise it. How about most optimized keyboard shortcuts? Do you keep your PTT (push to talk) button on your keyboard or mouse? Do you turn all the graphical settings off? r_atmospherics, r_shadows, r_fog... etc.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Exactly this.
Right now I wouldn't worry about your skill so much. Frame rate is jittery as hell. Once its optimized then see how much help you need.
This is a big part of having a great time with NS2 right. Once I upgraded my computer I was in heaven.
You sir, made that your six hundred and sixty-sixth post.
Aw man.. Satan will never forgive me for this.
this
I went from from ###### gt220 gpu with a q8200 cpu to a 990x i7 with sli 590s
This game is so hard to play with 20fps its like night at day
But you can build a PC for 750$ that will run ns2 maxed out just fine
Not to say people should need to automatically upgrade their computer to play NS2. I'm NOT saying that. However, upgrading is part of the territory with pc gaming. It is just something you need to do every 5 years or so, it comes with the territory.
Including a pic of their rigs lol.
Seriously though I like the idea. It reminds me of watching videos (pre youtube!!) of old TFC pro Conc Jumpers playing a map.
It always helped me figure out ways of playing differently.

There are a lot of our other games at http://exertus.q-q.name/?page_id=270 , casted stream means usually NS2HD and plain "stream" is POV stream. Dunno if these are exactly what you are looking for, but maybe there is something to be learned watching Synomi play ;)
How should we get you the raw video?
Most video upload sites reduce quality pretty badly and I refuse to use youtube now as they make you link your account

Make you link your account? What does that mean and how is it bad?
you need to link the youtube account with a google account.
Ah... why is that bad? Scared of spam or something?
Privacy probably.
Recording games lower the fps significantly and you need really high connection to stream so I dont see many people giving first person view at the moment. Synomi up there has a decent aim though definetly check those out.
lol.
4.5 Ghz? Phbbbbbb! Try 5.0ghz on air.
Well all ill say is currently there is not alot of skill in NS2, but if you want to learn some of the basics with movement and dodging its probably best to just spectate some players in gathers/such.
No but seriously, this: skulk walljumping tutorial. A bit outdated, but the same principles. Personally, I just spam the space bar. :P

I don't think you could have trolled me, as your new to the forums like me <3
Ive been playing NS1 since its first release on Halloween under one name or another :P
Once performance gets a little better I will be able to FRAPS my comming and FPS play :). Not to say that I am super l33tzor or anything.
Heres couple tips that every player should know (And a surprising number of vets don't even know).
1. Using a parasite on marines with armor 0 will allow you to kill them in only 2 bites rather than 3. Use it.
2. Avoid walking on infestation if there are props you can jump on (Boxes, railings, etc).
3. If you hear a skulk coming towards you and you have a short distance and bad angle you should start sprinting in the opposite direction and jump and do a 360 while shooting. You will be able to do more damage to him with more distance between you two. Personally I think this is stupid that marines have to do this, but should be better once hitreg and FPS is higher.
4. Prefire your grenades if you hear skulks coming, also if you have a jetpack shoot at your feet and take off when skulks are getting close... works so well.
5. Hunt skulks on powernodes... it's a free kill.
6. Use vents when on marines... aliens never expect it and you have an advantage in tight long places like a vent.
7. Don't run off by yourself on marine
8. Don't get greedy when lerking or fading
9. Use welders all the time
10. Pickup dropped weapons, especially if you died close to base.
11. Click a little earlier than you think with the shotgun. It doesn't fire immediately when you click (I hate this a lot).
12. Lead skulks with the AR slightly (It's hitscan but doesn't feel like it in current builds)
13. Don't rush marines with a skulk... wait and ambush
14. Use pistol secondary while killing skulks on RT's It's accurate, you can shoot through the legs on RT's now, and it only takes 3 bullets to kill a skulk with no carapace with secondary fire.
15. When an onos is around stay close to vents or areas an onos cannot get into. You can solo an onos pretty easily doing this. (Refinery transfer anybody?)
16. If you see a socketed yet unbuilt powernode on aliens.. search the area. Marines are nearby.
17. Listen to good commanders
18. Watch what good players do.
19. Master using walljump with the skulk. You can move just as fast with wall jumping as you can with leap. Use a combination of the two to turn the skulk into a killing machine rather than camping class.
Recording sort of hurts the FPS, degrades my jumping but an example right hurr
