New Gorge Structure

It would be nice if a gorge could build more than 2 structures, so I was thinking it would be interesting if a gorge could create a structure called a "gloom" which exhales an atmospheric fog, something that might obscure standard sight when entered (even for aliens) but doesn't obscure alien sight. It would appear like a thick haze akin to mist or spores. It could be mounted on any surface like most gorge structures and thus it could create screens over doors and with enough you could pool the clouds obscuring eggs, structures, and small aliens. That's all.

Its shunned upon to have anything in the game that takes control away from the player...this includes player movement and vision.
So obscuring marine vision is not going to be popular.

However I did liked the nutrient mist's haze on the ground visuals. Gave it an Aliens atmospheric feel. I'd like to have that back in some form, even if it doesn't have any real gameplay significance.

Agreed and agreed. Don't want to take control away from the player: lack of vision = lack of control. However, a 'smoke screen' sounds like a great idea - blocking vision across a hallway or sectioning off part of a room could be useful and would provide a nice atmospheric. I too would like to see the mist effect brought back into the game somehow.

Maybe this other structure could provide a mist around itself which provides a buff of some sort. When sitting on the floor it could provide a large AOE, when attached to the walls or ceiling it would have a much smaller AOE as the mist itself would block vision (and dissipate as it fell to the floor).

You mean that InkCloud thingy the Shade has?

I completely understand about the loss of control concern; I hadn't thought about it that way before.

The fade's cloud effect could certainly look good with a structure like this. I like to imagine a few of these structures on NS2_Summit in Data Core, screening the hive and pooling in the pit around it.

Now that Bile Bomb is moved back to Gorge, I suspect Clog would either be default or 3rd tier (though the "Spider" has yet to be revealed).

I like the idea of a fog-producing geyser building, it would look pretty neat as a protrusion of infestation, too. In fact, it would be awesome if the Gorge can ride the steam up, giving him some special vertical movement :P
