    Hey Death_by_bullets,

I currently own the G60JX model - yes it will run.
I get avg 35FPS and have noticed that the game is CPU restricted (I have 2.26Ghz version) so I have ordered an i7 to replace my current i5 in hopes that the FPS will boost. In other games I average 100-300fps depending on the game and settings.

Great Laptop series - strongly recommended.

Thanks for the quick reply! I have the i7 coming in my model. Good to know bud

CPU's around 3Ghz will get around 25-35 FPS combat FPS, the newer the model the closer you get to the higher end of this range. That is the current build208 general rule of thumb. More optimisations are upcoming as well though

The only thing I'm not sure about is that Geforce 360m (mobility model?). It might be underpowered., but I'm not familiar with mobile models...

I actually boosted the quality versus performance on this game with the same GFX card because its has little to no affect on fps. I tried disabling cores and my fps dropped in half which is how I came to the conclusion it was CPU bound at this point. Happy your getting the i7 version. If mine comes in before you get yours I'll post what I'm getting FPS wise then.

    Congrats!

Also I just realized I'm getting the i7-820QM ES so my FPS may not be the same as yours but either way its a beast!

This is true up to a point. Some people have experienced GPU limitations from either older models, low VRAM, or likely driver issues from integrated graphics.

Also, NS2 does some multithreading (I believe rendering is done on a separate thread), such that you can reduce performance by restricting NS2 to a single core.

youd be amazed how much old comps can actually run ns2, you really just need a good cpu and enough ram to make sure it doesnt run slowly.

That laptop should be fine for NS2, decently powerful :-) Expect to get 30fps+ now, and probably a lot more once final optimizations on the game are done for V1.0

I have an i7 840QM and an nvidia 480GTM and I don't think NS2 is very playable on my specs.

Seeing as that's clocked at 1.86 GHz, with a turbo of 3.2Ghz, I'd be interested if NS2 is actually making the CPU reach 3.2, or is hovering somewhere inbetween. At 3.2Ghz, I would have expected it to run as well as my i7 920 @ 3Ghz at very least.

    30 FPS is POOR.

    Doctor Spin does it again.

I said 30+ now, with more when it's optimized. I never said 30fps is fine, but it's better than what a lot of people are currently getting. Someone needs to read my posts before posting.

That's obviously an issue with different definitions of "playable". I personally can't really play multiplayer shooters with anything below 60 fps or with VSync, it's too awful.

I get the ~30fps you mention previously, but I feel like it is spiking a lot.. because the animation and combat aren't smooth and prolonged play gives me a pain in my eyes. I'm wondering the the turbo is reliable enough to contribute to sustained framerate. With Skyrim, the turbo eventually caused my cpu to overheat, so I need to clean out the dust from the heatsink. I bought a can of compressed air to do it, but just haven't got around to it.

30FPS isn't 30FPS. In one game 30FPS can be reasonably smooth, in another it can be downright awful. NS2 tends to fall in the latter category, mainly due to the jittering, net-lag and mouse-lag introduced upon a low FPS. A playable NS2 for me means AT LEAST around 40-50 FPS.

You will be able to max the game out at 1600x900. If you set the resolution at 1920x1080, it will become unplayable. :)

We've found that AMD CPUs run a bit slower than their Intel counterparts, so I would expect your system to average 35-50fps start game, and 20-30 fps late-game until more optimizations make it into the game (which are coming in later builds).
