<div class="IPBDescription">:)</div>Well, I got to thinking the flamethrower is gonna need a pretty sick alternate attack if the pres cost is gonna stay the same while still maintaining the flamethrower as a supportive weapon.
So, I'd like to suggest an ice/cryo freeze as an alternate attack. Now.. I'm not trying to go crazy here but most of all the visual effect of a frost attack had me the most intrigued. Freezing then torching buildings/creatures (not the other way around of course.. lol) just sounds like a high dose of asskickery as it would definitely LOOK cool. Without a doubt whatever effect it has have to be discussed.
I was thinking anything along the lines of movement debuff, slippery floors, slime-static effect, frozen effect, etc.. maybe something as complicated as extra damage if used before flame. The reload animation simply be changed to a canister containing 2 liquids (fuel/nitrogen/whatever).
However, i'd like to hear some feedback because I think it can maintain balance, keep the flamethrower as something that doesn't just spew more DPS out, and provide the flamethrower with added abilities that could be "rationalized" with the frost effect, thus giving it more tactical use in the field.
Maybe this is crazy because it's coming from someone who also thinks the alternate shotgun attack should hold a nearby, unlucky skulk down with your boot and blast it point blank. (So tired of 3-4 hits not even slowing a skulk down, wtf kind of shotgun are we using here??)
Anyway,
TL/DR: Liquid nitrogen cryo-attack for flamethrower?

Personally I think it would be more useful to have a secondary attack that has a wider blast of flame at the expense of distance - and perhaps chews through ammo faster. A real last-ditch weapon when the skulk gets in close.
This. Napalm grenades are the solution to everything!
This. Arrows are also the solution to everthing!
I just liked the idea of frost effects. I'm OK with your guys' idea.
the flame isn't as "flame y" in real life more like a waterhose (on stream not spray) with fire.
about 5 years ago i was down in coronado (NAB) doing some navy stuff and some dudes from EOD had a whole bunch of ww2,korea,and 'nam tools and they had a few throwers.
one for a sherman easy8 and a pack .. and a nonfunctional one anyhoo..
so those packs shot a nice stream about 30-40yards ...
if there is to be a secondary i think a long range stream (maybe takes 2X the fuel) would be a good bet.
or rainbows which would make the aliens happy and not fight but just cuddle you abit :)
