From a marine view, perhaps 6-10 feet. And I dont know how many walls you could cram into that space, but Im sure its vine. I know on some maps you can put em behind a wall and be on the other side fighting like crazy and only retreat to the wall for a heal.
I know of a few spots you can do this at. I'll mention one now. At ns_bast. At feedwater hive, build defence chambers next to the resource tower and then put offence towers on the other side of the wall. Works like a charm.
It's more then 6-10 feet. I tested it and it would heal from the res nozzle at Triad Generator on eclipse to about 3-4 feet away from the door leading to eclipse hive.
For Eclypse, there's a vent right next to horseshoe that can be filled up with DC's right next to the wall. There's nothing quite as funny as seeing how huge a bloody splat a fade can leave on the wall and still kill 3-4 marines standing there. "hax! hax! aaaaarg!" *splat*
Best of all, it's so close to the marine spawn, yet outside of siege range from their base and they'll walk right past without noticing.
More helpful hints, when creating a DC stack to resist a siege put as many defence chambers on different heights as possible. Siege damage only seems to hit stuff round about the same level so it will attack one DC, kill it then move onto the other rather than taking out a stack at once. This way you can easily resist a siege for an extra minute which gives more time for support and people to shift to fades if thats the second hive they are hitting.
The healing range on DCs is amazingly wide. Whenever I'm a gorge, I try to take some falling damage asap. If you're down 20-30 hp you can use yourself as a gauge for how far the effect can spread. Set the DCs in a central location if possible, and try to put many walls under the influence of the same DCs.
To clear it even more, consider the feedwater hive on bast again... You can set DCs around the resource, and have them heal the OCs blocking the main hive entrance. Those same DCs can *also* protect a stack of OCs blocking the tram tunnel ladder.
Wow, i can't believe nobody has said anything about ns_caged yet! This works like a charm...There is a vent right inside their base with enough room for 3 or 4 DCs. Just rush in there as a skulk, or take the back way through the sewer if you dont want to be noticed. Build 3 or 4 DC's there, then rush in with like 4 skulks and destroy everything. If you get weak just retreat to the wall and its like insto healing.
