I do multimedia work . . . which is a Hell of a lot more interesting than dentistry, which is what I originally went to school for. Though I can't really remember ever being serious about it, which is why I've chosen to believe that I did it as some sort of dare . . .
Wen for comp sci in college but tanked on the programming part, decided to go for certification after that.
Got my MCSA, going for MCSE. Fun stuff (yeah right <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)

LOL I meant the nitty gritty details. .
I haven't done hard-core phy for some time so ive forgotten stuff abt nanotech, but evolution i meant understand how it WORKS. (like know the material on alleles(BTW how do u pronounce tt? I hear diff pronunciations all the time), inheritance, RNA/DNA structure n synthesis, blah blah blah)
I was more of referring to the stuff of higher end science, not really the things u pick up here and there... <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

If it's the latter, we must be aware that in the past people were really...erm...stUbborn? (remember how they put Gallileo under house arrest for suggesting that the earth revolved ard the sun?) I guess no one really bothered to challenge the Creationist theory, and even when they did, no one really believed them. Even now we're still running round in circles concerning the debate.
Either way, without the Evolutionist theory, we wun haf this wonderful game to play. (BTW I noticed that on the main page it says NS normally takes place through conflict.... but i think it occurs just as often, if not, through differences in ability to mate/find-food/evade. What do u guyz think?)
But back to the main topic before we get tossed into the lands of OT: Who are the guyz playing NS? (Or lurking ard the NS forums)
For anyone interested... Michael Crichton has a new novel out based on nanotech gone awry. Basically, a group of nano-machines gets out and starts multiplying itself... so on and so forth.
I'm sure it will be a good read. Crichton does a great job of mixing real-world science with a bit of science fiction.
I'm a SQL Database developer and admin (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) for the central computing hub of a state government so yeah, another techie here.

Hate to break the trend, but I'm studying social science, I'm also a total philosophy nerd, but I've been playing games since I could walk (litteraly), and trolling forums is fun <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Sophomore in high-school, but I take CS and math (I really, really hate math at this point) classes at the U of I.
Also, I think the fact that everyone here is either some sort of scientist or techie, or is in some kind of learned profession is becuase we have the sense to join the forums and be attached to this game. Many of the actual playerbase you see on the pubs consists mainly of llamas and people that happened to notice NS floating about with all the other Half-Life mods out there.

EDIT: YAY 500th post!
and the concept of nanotech aint that hard
but so what?
this is SF
