Jetpack Auto-thrusters

researchable tech for jetpacks
I'll try to keep this simple. Keep in mind this suggestion is intended as something to add down the line after all other abilities and tech are in the game and balanced accordingly. It's intended to keep the Jetpack on the same tier as the Exo. I know that we really don't know how the Exo will behave, but I see the Jetpack as always being the movement choice vs the Exo's staying power.

- Auto-thrusters would be a researchable upgrade that would negate all movement impairing effects as long as the upgrade is applied. This includes stomp, infestation, spit, and vortex (whatever else).

Lore reasons would be that the jetpack would fire mini thrusters (visually/lore only (wouldn't use fuel)) that would keep the user at a constant speed. So there would be no slowdown when running over infestation as the thrusters would keep your momentum.

An interesting idea, but wouldn't this completely negate the before mentioned abilities (stomp, infestation, spit, and vortex)?

What would the Kharaa use to combat these 'auto-thrusters'?

I don't think an ability which removes the other team's ability to defend itself would work too well overall - it would unfairly tip the game in the marine's favor.

Vortex doesn't impair your movement it sends you into a different dimension, unless they changed it on me also I doubt this would work since it pretty much breaks the entire alien team maybe make it so it makes stomp and slows not as effective but still work? Like you get up quicker from stomp and you move a little less slower from gorge spit?

Also, doesn't the Jetpack already do all of those things by simply making the user not on the ground (where all those effects occur).

Exactly. All this does is give that functionality to those who wear the jetpack, ground or not.

Now, like I said, this isn't intended for current gameplay. Aliens may not have an effective way of countering Jetpacks as of now but do you really see that continuing on release? It would be shortsighted for aliens to be completely ineffective due to Marines having jetpacks and this upgrade when all is said and done.

The aliens need a more solid way to defend against Jetpacks right now, but when they get it, do you really think this would still be overpowered?
