I'm pretty sure I temp banned that guy from our ziegen farm a few days ago. He named himself "Colddeath is a <bad word>". Didn't write down his steamid though :-/. Everything he used to say was "gg son of a ****", and I didn't even know who he was referring to.
edit: It was not Colddeath of course, just some other guy insulting him.

cant wait til you play with an actual account name, preventing all this fakenick stuff that is so ripe for trolling. Its amazing what anonymity does to people
I'm going to go ahead and put forth the motion for establishing a Community Blacklist of Asshats so they can be dictatorially banned from all servers for using the internet while stupid.
It appears someone has used my Username and swore at everyone that kills him in a cheesy fashion - No wait, that's just me.
Fu, Stomp-spammers, Lerks/Fades with a <30% hit rate and people that attack me while I build - And especially anyone who kills me while I'm typing or doing anything while I'm a Gorge.

Saw you met the "gg son of s**t" guy... It would be very kind to post his Steam ID here so we can report him to all the admins of servers in europe to be ban, as he plays there.
Oh yea, the "gg guy", looks like he's gained some popularity. Btw, on the matter of having your steam account as a nickname... i don't think that's the best idea, as my steam acc is.... well, it's long... And i'm sure other people also have weird acc names.
As I understand it certain people will get special armors and can choose icons they earned from helpingg out in different ways. So apparently the devs can somehow track users, and link that to their system. Could that system be expanded to either prevent users from using a name used on forum by another? so in that way you could reserve your nick on forum, and use that ingame. Or maybe when the icons are added ingame, it would be clear who is authorized as the real person, and who is just using anothers name?
There is no good solution to fake-nicking, nicknames are just too analog. A central-database at UWE is a poor idea, it would induce griefing and force people to register on here not to have their nick robbed. Additionally servers are very open to modding, thus icons are not a realiable method for deducing someone's identity (you can give black armor to anyone you wish for example, using minor edits in the Lua-scripts).
A per-server-based mod is the only thing that would be any good, where your nick-usage is basically tracked and the most used nickname is forced upon your client. The moment you try to do this globally, you get into some nasty totalitarian grounds. It must always be a job of the server-admin in question, not an automated system that is blind to nuance.
Really though, people should teach themselfs not to trust anyone's identity ingame.

That's why we need to make a list as Master Blaster said. So all the admins who want to make their servers "ass***** friendly" can look in this data to temporary ban or permanent ban some people. BUT the bad side is that we shouldn't fall in the LOL side of reporting: report everybody for nothing, i really hate that!
Fortunately, there are not so many people like this on NS2, it is just a way to prevent our games to be spoilt by a few guys like the guy we talked about.
Active Server Admins are still the best way to get rid of idiots as shown in the beginning of the thread. We just need to work together as a community and report idiots. Putting up great prevention mechanisms will never fully work and just ruin the experience for some.

I’ll look into this issue and ban the person responsible!
edit : thank for your reactivity. maybe you should keep his steamid for others admins if he injures people again.
