I figure I might get this game in the coming weeks when I gather some more cash, help support the game. Does anyone know how many populated servers it has most of the time?

At least 3 is usually good for me :)

Nano Grid will give you a good overview of the current servers and player count, without launching the game or having it installed :)

NA or EU? NA All-in servers are full most times, 3 servers
EU HBZ servers also always full, also 3 servers

You can check this website for the number of populated servers at any given time. Hope to see you in-game soon :)

Also what Kouji said, Nanogrid is very useful!

Whoah. I tried to get to that manually, but that looks to be a complicated link. Good to have, thank you. :)

Is that a program for other games too? Or does it just show NS2?

The site been created by Insane specifically for NS2 and Mendasp has a list of servers or something, feeding it. Observe as he will now come in here yelling at me for not explaining it correctly, that is if he reads this :P

Also if you're interested in match streams, there is an official NS2 twitch stream, which is usually active during the weekends when clans are scrimming. Along with some other people also streaming NS2...

Short answer: yes, it has at least 3 populated servers at all times.

However, it will vary from 3 to almost filling the 50+ servers currently up. I find the best times to play are roughly 2-3 days after a new build comes out because a) there will be a nice selection of populated servers and b) they won't be full.

Like the others said, it's not too bad finding a game. Occasionally you have to join a less-full server to get one with good ping, but people will come once they see a game is growing.

That being said, hope we see you in the beta soon!

Many bought the game but servers usually very empty. From my experience 5-10 servers normally active usually at best, and out of those servers 3-5 are full. But after new update hits, you see many servers being filled up but the population drops within day or so. So the bottom line, game doesn't really have much population.

A lot of us are just waiting for release before we play. Me and my friends bought the game long time ago but haven't been playing. I've been checking the forums pretty much every single day since NS2 was first announced. I can only play on 640x480 with a decent framerate and until the latest patch that meant i couldn't buy any guns or see chat text or the mini map etc becaue the in-game GUI had no scaling

Performance performance performance performance (should be read in Steve Balmer's semi-psychotic voice). There are plenty of folks around who are just waiting for performance to reach acceptable levels. Even being badly balanced and incomplete, NS2 would beat out on most other games out there, given that it would run smoothly.

So yea, a rise in activity every new build after which it deflates again to around 120+ players. This cycle will continue until performance goes up.

Yeah, for me performance is what limits the amount I play the beta. Every new build I play a few games and then start playing other games. The gameplay itself is becoming more and more great. Unfortunately the low framerate makes it hard for me to actually aim properly, which takes away a lot of fun, since aiming is a big part of a shooter. ;)

Player, why are you always so negative? Sure Performance could be better, but be patient thats coming... Balance? well this build has felt better than most before it too me and a lot of other people and lastly incomplete? duh its a freaking development BETA. On the server note there are typically 5 active servers at any given time, granted most of the good ones are full, but I have noticed if you can get 3 or 4 people to join an empty server you can fill it within a couple minutes.

I don't like doing this, but I don't see much negativity here...

The game is good (even in the current state) but the performance is not there yet... I think we can all agree? Not really negative, in my opinion.

This has mainly been my take on it. Not to be overly critical, but not all the builds have been that fun or well-performing.

With 210 I've actually been playing a lot more. People on these forums are not exaggerating when they say it's getting better. IMO right now performance is the one that needs more loving, but I'm actually having FUN when I play these days. That's worth more than anything else. :)
