We hadsome news about the EXO in a Q&A and a little sneak peak in a PT session video 2 werks ago.
The EXO is done and is in the PT build for some weeks now but they are still tweaking and improving it. My guess is that it will be implemented in 214.
Just take a look on UWE and NSHD vids, plenty of informations about the exo can be found.

There was an NS2HD cast of a playtest where they had to cut short after 5 minutes because a tester bought an Exo and they're not allowed to show it publicly yet :P

I guess than you also shouldn't tell us about the special transformations which allows him to transform into a command station if needed or into a Apache helicopter.

Nah, he can just carry the command station around... makes relocations easier!

its just a rumour at this stage, but i've heard that the exo suit design is heavily inspired by a crab's exo skeleton. The biggest gameplay mechanic is that while you take a lot of hits, you are forced to walk sideways.
Anyone try out Blacklight Retribution? I was pleasantly surprised by the way they implemented their suits. From what I tried, it has a minigun on one arm and a railgun on the other and it plays just the way I expected/wanted. It's smooth enough to not be a hindrance, but isn't snappy like the soldier's viewpoint.
I don't have tons of experience with exo-suit/mech gameplay outside of Earthsiege or Mechwarrior -- but that's more simulation. I've played other robot/mech games like Armored Core and Shogo: MAD, but they aren't much different than your 3rd/1st person shooter feel. I know AvP 2 did an OK job with the exosuit. If anything, I hope it plays a little like the one in AvP 2 or Blacklight Retribution.
Yeah, the black light retribution suit is pretty nice, although I don't know if the turning speed limitation would work in ns2. If the exo does have that, I think the speed limit should be higher since aliens are far more agile than people in blr. Also don't want exo having boost jets.
I have tried the exosuit in Blacklight, but it would be HORRIBLE for NS2. I don't like using it since it's hard enough to fight humans in the suit in that game - tracking any of the aliens would be hell. Even worse than the turning speed is the handling and movement.
That being said, the flavor of the mech in that game is pretty sweet, and I would not mind if NS2 had a similar design as long as the Exosuit controls much better.
I'm boredt to wait for an EXO, then I looked into code and discover some interesting stuff ..
<SPOILER ALERT!!!> <span style='color:#000000;background:#000000'>- spashing eggs in some small area (1.5) around exo ? - warning on 30% of health - CRITICAL warning on 10% of health .. lol - looks like EXO will have 10 timees more armor as normal marine - can't climb ladders :(</span> </SPOILER ALERT!!!>
Found that if you turn on Cheats you can give yourself an Exo suit.
But you can't see anything, the graphics aren't in place yet so you look invisible if you go 3rd person view. The sounds appear to be there however for jump and I think the railgun by the sounds of it (doesn't work though).
One thing I'm surprised by is the ability to kill alien eggs just by jumping on top of them....
that sounds really awesome tbh, i hope they do it the same with cysts. when you're in a big, powerful and heavy armor suit, you probably don't expect to be lifted on top of such tiny squishy things while walking on them.

I agree that it should do some damage but the one shot kill seems a little over the top. I'll have to double check but I'm pretty sure it only took one jump to kill an egg. Hadn't tested it on cysts yet but will later. Image one Exo just walking through infestation and instantly killing all cysts and then if he makes it to the hive, it would only take a few seconds to wipe out all the eggs and all without firing a single shot.
Well just tested it on the cysts and it doesn't affect them at all. You seem to walk right through them. But as far as the eggs go, it is a one shot kill just by jumping on them. Gonna be hard to spawn with just one of them in the hive area.

Hopefully the devs have realized by now that their concept of the exo doesn't fit in the game they are actually making. NS2 isn't a singleplayer game or mechwarrior xxvi (unfortunately?).

Talespin was best cartoon.
I would imagine within less then 10 builds, considering they are playtestable, for a given value of the word.
I haven't heard any news about it in close to 4 months.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Walking around in massive armor was the only way I was not bad in NS1.
I never liked sprint anyway.

Soon...
Granted, it's nice to have more options, but heck if the Marines even actually need them.

NS1 combat mod = EXO and jetpack upgrades both at same time. Awsome days
