It's incredible, everything about it has the look of profesionlism and I'm sure that Valve must show an interest if it takes off (it will)
I have to congratulate the whole team (the artwork alone deserves an award) Keep with it guys and I hope you all end up earning your just rewards for the hard work and long hours it must have taken.
All I have to do now is try to get half way to being good at it - now where's that manual?? lol
love from an ald hippy

As another Noob...

I can honestly say for intial impact NS (for me) has had a much greater "pull" than CS did when I first played it.

Sure it's a steep learning curve and maybe CS was easier to "walk into " and play but even after a few days NS has been far more rewarding.

Who can forget the first time a "good" commander sent you under armed and wounded into the heat of a hive to deal a final death blow to the hive. Not happened to you yet? It will and when it does you will "feel" what NS is about.

NS for a NooB rocks if treated well.... Look after us Noob's ... we are your front line troops of tomorow!

I love NS!!! I have played CS for over two years, i play in an CB active clan.
But my CS days are almost over, NS is the next big thing i the mod scene!!
I admire the people who make these kinds of online games.
Not many people would put down the time and effort it takes to make a new game for no money or nothing.
Maybe the reward is to feel that you have done something Good that Many people can enjoy for many hours.

Back again - I'm still finding my way here - maybe it's the age thing ( I'll be honest - I'm a colossal 49yrs old - but I'm an old hippy so that must knock at least 20yrs off- This game rocks and I still don't know what I'm doing. As anyone reading this can most likely tell I'm totally wrecked so this probably reads like drivel (if it reads at all)
Goddamm it I forgot what was gonna say
I most likely meant to say - but I can't say for sure - -- if anyone thinks they can give me any tips or help of any kind (drugs counsellors {the wife spelt that} psychiatrists and ppl like that can ignore trhat statement)
I hope to God you all know what I mean - DO YOU
gOD i'M **obscenity** and other things
WQhat a sorry state I'm in (or so the wife says - and wot does she know??
But, erm,I think I'll have to lie down. Goodnite all ------ help

i couldnt agree less

maybe for you it was easier with CS, but for me I found NS much easier to get into because of experience with the fighting engine.. as well as the fact that everyone is new and pretty much equal...

However I did have 56k when I started CS and my comp sucks so it was really really hard, but I think NS was easier to get into. The manual is far better than CS's... not to say the games arent equal.. I have no favored one.

"This has to be the best half life mod since counter strike "

Counter-Strike is super popular now, but the mod was ruined in the series of patches. I complain about this a ridiculous amount on servers sometimes, which annoys everyone.. ;p

It was rather sad, seeing Gooseman spend countless hundreds of hours creating something great, then spending another few hundred hours slowly ruining it. I don't get it. The mod went from having semi-realistic weapons accuracy with a fun slightly arcadeish feeling, to ridiculously stupid weapons accuracy, far worse player models, a bunch of new guns that suck and no one ever uses, and now virtually no one uses anything but the rifles because they are vastly superior in all situations. They also tripled how much you slow down when shot, which made firefights between skilled players far less interesting. I also hate how well the "duck and cover" technique works - it's stupid considering the feeling of Counter-Strike.

Despite having gotten worse with every release since 7.1, the game is still popular. I just don't get what it still has going for it - it now has more cheaters as a percentage then just about any other online game, and has the most immature and obnoxious player base (I know that is not all of them, but it is a high enough percentage that it detracts from the game quite a bit) of any online game out there.

Sorry about going on out there, but I used to play CS way to much - back in (my opinion) its high point - 6.5 - I was one of the best players out there. So I'm still slightly irritated how the game was destroyed. I still try to get people (unsuccessfully so far) to play beta 6.5 at LAN parties.

NS, on the other hand, is amazingly great considering first release was in November. Most proffesional first release I have ever seen in a mod. It is nice to see the creators actually striving for balance.
