Help the new guys, not hinder

i really shouldn't even feel compelled to make a thread like this but I've seen quite a bit of harassment thrown towards the new kids on the block.
stop it.
if you really can't handle people learning the game then just sit out the next week or two. some of us are trying to help these guys but then comes along the zero tolerance crowd and starts mouthing them off. many games were won today simply by coaching people as i commanded them, as well as seeing some opposing commanders go ballistic on theirs when losing. it can be frustrating, but even more so rewarding.

I knew a game like NS2 would have people yelling and cursing since everyone has to work together to win or it's pretty much a loss. That's a turn off but I love the game's setting and that was just one game, I'm going back in for more, hopefully no more grieving, lol I wish, but it's an FPS which attracts all kinds of people, the good, the bad, and uglys.
Eve online has a great system where they have a pair of corps called Red vs Blue and also Eve University whose entire purpose is to teach warefare and skills to new players in a friendly educational setting. I'm not certain how that experience might be replicated here, but a few servers to that purpose seem a decent idea.
The game has a very steep learning curve. Have patience, keep pressing "c" to open your map (dont worry, youll learn the maps in time).
The game is VERY alien sided right now. Don't be surprised if you lose and lose and lose as marines. Balance is still being worked on.
There is a hardcore group of players in the game with a good year of experience and they are going to crush you for now.
I wouldn't hop in the comm chair just yet.
Communicate with your microphone!
That fps loss towards the end of a match affects everyone without a 4.5Ghz processor - you aren't experiencing anything out of the ordinary and its being worked on.
If you can't kill anything as a skulk for now, go gorge and lock off a useful entry way toward your hives with clogs and hydras. Ask your team for a good spot
Remember to buy a welder when the commander researches them and use it to weld your buildings, power nodes and teammates!
All the above will help both the new guys and the vets not get frustrated while you learn the game.

just think of it being part of your mission! you have served long enough to understand the game in detail, you can now lead the rookies into battle. no matter if you are commanding or in the field, people will rely on you! show them the awesome tricks you've learned and watch them improve.

When the game goes on full release, we'll get even more of them. People should start learning now how to just have fun with the game. Never hurts to just go into the game to screw around. I haven't seen many instances of people being harsh on new guys, but for those people: it's beta, lighten up. Enjoy yourselves. :P

Being crushed mercilessly is how I learned (read: am learning)
We'd like to extend a big welcome to all the new folks,..and hopefully the people who do all the yelling and screaming at the newbs will realize that if they scare everyone away with that kind of harmful attitude, there won't be anyone left to play with. So to all the Veterans, please, help these guys out, give them a chance without all the yelling, and just have fun racking up some easy kills :)

Or some players on pubs should stop being whiny ######gots.
Its a pub, so its going to be a mixed ability group and mixed investment. Some people are just looking for fun, rather than to win. If you are going to be super cereal then join a clan.
Let us shape the next generation of NS2 players into unstoppable killing machines for glorious battle in the future!
So guys, exercise patience, don't assume people are trolling when they may just be new and have a misunderstanding about how the game works. Be forgiving, try to help them out, and if their mistakes cost you the game, understand that it is just one loss. Try to calmly explain to them what happened so that they can know what to avoid doing in future games.
Personally as frustrating as it can be to play right now with all these new people, I'm actually loving it because there are just so many new people to meet. :)
I get a smile on my face when I help people learn the game and give them a "proper" NS2 experience then get to hear them talk about how cool the game is. It's like when I was at the PAX East booth, which was even cooler since I could see and talk to the people I was helping.
So to sum it all up, OP is right. Don't be mean to anyone in a videogame when it's as complex as Natural Selection 2 and when it's not even out yet. Not everyone has been learning to play marine commander since Halloween 11 years ago.
After he explained he was new we still ejected his ass but we stopped flaming him. :)
stop it.

The wiki is ###### terrible.
If you have a mic and you take the time to use your face to tell someone to go there, leave. Just answer their questions. There will be lots of them, but when you answer one guys question 10+ people who hear the answer might have had the same one.
good thing too, cause i asked people in the server, and almost ALL of them were new. so make sure you guys help the ENEMY team with tips and info as well

That's the same thing the guy I was talking to did. He actually had his voice key bound to the recycle button and accidentally recycled a bunch of buildings while trying to talk to us. Honest mistake, by the sounds of it (and based on the rest of his actions). When he realized what had happened and due to the flaming he said "someone else take over, I don't deserve it". It was a shame the team wasn't a bit more supportive and encouraged him on.

What I don't understand is why they're all using their axe.
