Hello everyone!
As we are getting closer to the finish line for NS2, we wanted to make sure the game has been tested
to it's limit before shipping. We've got quite a few positions open for playtesting, and we
wanted to get some fresh ideas and contributors in! So if you ever wanted to help finish & ship a video game, now is your chance!
The North-American and European playtesting applications are now open for anyone who thinks they may have the
skills that it takes to do game testing for NS2. Testers who are selected will be able to test the latest maps, the EXO
and collaborate with the map & game developers on necessary changes and tweaks. The duties that are associated with
Playtesting are:
Bug finding and testing Fixes
Balance suggestions based on public and competitive team-play
Tweaks
Mapping errors and annotations
Participate in scheduled, internal PT games.
The play testing schedule for EUPT will be on Mondays & Wednesdays at 8PM GMT/9PM CET
The play testing schedule for NAPT will be on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 1600 PST = 4pm PST = 5pm MST = 6pm CST = 7pm EST
Remember, anyone can apply, but we will be taking a look at previous experience with leagues, ladders, beta
tests, etc. The best way to improve your chances of being selected is to provide links to your past testing
or involvements with other games. Applicants with previous playtesting/mapping/coding experience and portfolios are encouraged
to apply, but not required.
Before you apply, know that you absolutely MUST have your own copy of Natural Selection 2.
APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN HERE:

If you have any questions, please feel free to add them here in the thread. The application window will close
one week from today.
Good luck from the NS2 PT Leads!

It would be 7 PM EST for NA.
I would lean more towards getting players from top NS1 clans as PT's, they normally provide the best feedback in terms of balance.

Use this website, i also use it when i'm to lazy to convert the time myself.
Just select the initial time and than select your own timezone.

Balancing is the lowest of the low priorities for PTs.
Yes, please re-apply. Our requirements are changing and people's applications may have changed as we head towards release, so please feel free to re-apply :)

Would also be super keen.
Enjoy play testing NA and EU folks :)
A simple example would be a client crash we (the PTs) were trying to reproduce yesterday. We spent over and hour and a half basically move back and forth in the hallway going from Reactor to Atrium on Summit. All of the testing is related to ensuring the game runs without errors. If we find one, we have to discover the step-by-step series of actions to reproduce it.
You should call yourself Sherlock Holmes :3

Im a little bit confused. ;)
and the best will be to describe also : severity of issue, the occurence, and so...
Good luck to other people applying :)
Suggestions. Doesn't mean they have to listen to it. Our main purpose is to do what NS2HD posted.
Ulmont: Hit up one of the PT's for the application link again and they'll give it to you. Either that or Obraxis or myself.
As a playtester you do naturally and occasionally participate in erstwhile internal balance discussions. For example, Charlie may pop into TeamSpeak and think aloud about a new change to Harvester health. These are however rare and not a primary responsibility. While occasional and exceptional balance suggestions will be welcome, continued balance discussion during playtest sessions is extremely counter-productive and not what we are asking people to do.
It is a tough job. But it can also be a very rewarding one. Before I started at UWE I participated as a playtester, and had a blast doing it. My mouth stayed shut re balance.
I'd estimate its roughly
60% bug finding/submitting/testing fixes
30% map testing/discussion
10% balance testing/suggestion/discussion
The bulk of the work is on stuff other than balance.
I played ns1, ive played a lot of ns2, im constructive in my critique, i have a lot of free time at the moment to give over to you guys.
Best regards,
Hunter
