Really want to pre-order, but I'm not sure if I can run this...
So... I really think this game looks fantastic, and I really would love to pre-order a copy to play the beta. The problem is that there's no refunds, and no system requirements. If anybody who owns the game could let me know if I could run the game or not, I would be very appreciative. I just upgraded my Graphics card and now I can run a lot of PC titles. Here's my specs:

Processor- Intel® Core™2 Quad CPU 2.33 GHz
Ram- 8 GB
OS Type- Windows 7, 64 Bit
Graphics Card- AMD Radeon 6800 (About 4068 MB of Total Memory)

Any help would be much appreciated :D

right now? your performance should be "ok" to play today, cpu speed might be a little low. but for final release, you should certainly be able to play it.

theres a box in the devs office running a core duo or a core 2 duo and an nvidia 8800GT. their goal is for THAT machine to be able to run ns2 at launch, so you'll be good.

Well I can give you my results on my rig.

    C2D E6420 2.13Ghz @ 3.4Ghz
    2Gb OCZ 825Mhz
    Ati HD4850 512Mb GDDR3

    My FPS in general: ~20-35
    My FPS in combat: ~18-22
My FPS in HEAVY combat: ~12-16 <- I end to stand on the sideline lobbing things in the general direction of combat central

Now the question is what generation of Core 2 is that, if it is the Q6xxx it needs to be overclocked to at least 3Ghz, if it is the Q8xxx it is a bit faster then mine by about 30-40% if running at high speeds like 3Ghz. At stock speed I'm guessing it would be similar to mine or a bit lower.

You can check the processor type by going selecting properties on your "My computer" icon, it should tell you the CPU number is (ie: mine is E6420)

The performance is a thing that improves with every patch. You will be able to play it just fine at some point or another.

    It's a Q8200 @ 2.33 GHz 2.33 GHz.

Thanks for the advice guys :D So I guess the idea is that the game will be able to run much better once it's done, and that's good to know. I'll have to do a bit more research, I think.

My specs are a lot better than what you have posted and I'm still having problems, but like others have said it's getting better.

You could take a gamble like I did and give it a go. I didn't regret it. It still has huge lag spikes when you meet enemies or get into a huge area. Ns_summit is the only map that doesn't lag much for me. Anyways, it's playable.

I don't want to tell you yes or no because it could go either way. Your processor seems a tad lacking IMO. That may hold you back a lot. Don't take my words as scripture but i think you may be able to run it on low setting on the right server. If your feeling lucky i would say buy it. If you don't want to roll the dice then just wait till system specs are released :) look forward to seeing you in-game!

You most likely wont be able to run NS2 in a playable state with clock speeds as low as 2.33 GHZ.

i have 2.33 ghz (an i5 quadcore on my laptop) and i usually have something like 20-40 fps (it's not always smooth, but absolutely playable). but i had to lower the resolution a bit (1024x768) and i also unchecked all the other buttons. however, graphical settings are on high.

I'd really like you to do a proper benchmark and post it in the benchmark thread.

There are very few records of weaker systems.

ok, reported my results. average fps were 24.238. but the test-settings made quite a difference for me, the game is not really enjoyable for me with all the graphic boxes being activated. i think i'll run another one with the settings i usually use, to see the difference.

edit: 31.711 average fps with all the extra boxes unchecked.
