Here I am to announce the release of my map ns2_Okazaki! I am starting this new thread for feedback concerning the map.

I'm eager to try it out, it looks really great!
I think you could almost rescale everything, but it would probably put things off grid...
I like the general geometry, there is a lot of fun rooms with elevation. I also love the simple and clean geometry but I guess you want to add lots of details like the officials maps.
Completely random spawn is probably a bad idea, because it's so hard to balance. It seems also that aliens always get a free expansion.
I played a 6v6 gather and we found pretty much the same problems you guys did, i.e. bad power node placement, aliens having easy expansions/tech points, etc.
Just letting you guys know that i'm still working on it. They layout might change quite a bit, I'm also going to bring it down to 5 tech points with less res nodes. All the rooms will also be reworked since aliens seem to have a hard time navigating even if the map currently favors aliens.
I'm also only going to make it look better once its better balanced and fun to play, so please don't worry if the rooms look like they came from half-life 1... I will also rename it next "patch", okazaki is pretty random.

I'm doing a little update just to let you know that I`m still working on it. It`s pretty much a different map with all the changes I made but I think its for the best. I removed a tech point and brought down the number of res nodes to 10. I have also reworked on the dynamic of the layout to make it feel less like a maze, which was one of the concerns of the previous versions. I`m also going to have better brush work the next time I update it. Even though the previous brush work was just a placeholder and was only meant to convey the basic layout, It wasn't fun enough when navigating through the level.
I'm leaving on vacation for three weeks so I won't have time to release it for at least a month. In the meantime, here is a pic of the new layout.
