Get in and get fragging!
G'day everyone!
With the arrival of the biscuits, average daily player numbers have exploded, sometimes stretching the existing NS2 server base to breaking point. NS2Servers.com and other people have done an amazing job providing servers to the community, and now I humbly present myself as contributing as well.
Today, 12 NS2HD public servers came out of testing and are all live. One of them is being used for internal UWE playtests, but will be made public in future. These are no-expense spared machines, using i7-3930k's, SSDs, and are over-clocked up the wazoo. You can read more about them here.
This is a private project put together with my own money, and is unrelated to my employment at UWE. I just love me some NS2, and am thrilled to finally be part of the community server effort.
If you want to learn about starting up your own servers (I sure had to learn a lot!) head on over to the server forums and get your notepad out. Special thanks to Lance and Wasabi for doing so much great work on the software side to get these machines operational.
Enjoy!

Who is going to admin the servers? And how can we reach them if there is a griefer or servers need a restart?

Right now Wasabi is helping me out until I can find a permanent admin. If you have any trouble, tweet me @NS2HD :)

No no! I wish, I would have to win the lottery. 12 servers on 2 machines.

This man deserves squad 5.
Once the exo is let loose and NS2 hits 1.0 we will be needing all the servers we can get as there were barely enough for the biscuit surge.
mmm.... 3930k@4.4ghz...ssd... mmmm... I want to play with them.
At first I thought it was 12 individual machines and thought "overkill." Those ssd's will make nice fast server. This is a great contribution. 12 stable killer nice servers. Thanks. Might pull me away from my clans norcal server.
Can I get complete hardware specs? Mb, ram, cooling, etc... No reason. I just am a hardware junkie.
Btw are these the fastest servers in the game so far? You have the most ticks or something, right? Just asking since you're doing it out of your own pocket and you're close to the UWE team :D
Thx for the info!
1: Why do you leave HT enabled?
2: Why do you lock the server process to a single core? If thats what you meant by:

QUOTE

Each server instance gets a dedicated core

But please disable hyper threading.
