Parasites are now useless

First, I don't know if parasites are working as intended now, so this is assuming they are.
Second, I know that it is commonly used "are now useless" as a hyperbole, but there actually is no reason I have found to use parasites now.
Currently, parasites do nothing for buildings, they do not show buildings on the minimap, or on the HUD. Furthermore their effect on players is short term, about 30s IIRC.
Previously most people didn't parasite at all. Now, as someone who actually would parasite regularly, I find it as a liability. I have to not only expose myself, but for something temporary now, instead of something permanent.
I don't understand why this was done.

Most of the time I would parasite, they go attack just because I was able to kill them faster.

He's talking about the, 1 para + 2 bites vs 3 bites to kill a armor lvl0 marine. Also the new place holder shader FX now makes it easier to keep track of the parasite marine.
About the parasite's usefulness, I'm not sure about it myself as I was a fan of the old mechanics. But the new Hive Sight isn't done yet either, so it might serve some different purpose down the line

This is not permanent. Welcome to the world of a development where you get to see the game being built inside out :)

Considering one of the major functions of parasite is to highlight the target in hive vision, I would think this question answers itself.

Thanks for clarifying my comment

Next time you should start by asking rather than asserting, if you don't know better.

Until we get hive sight working, Parasite will, unfortunately, be effectively useless. We are sorry about the confusion this has caused... The assertion to which i was referring was in the subject. It's no biggie.

By comparison, how about
Are parasites now useless?
Are parasites supposed to be useless?
What are parasites good for?
With hindsight, would you say these subjects are even more apt for discussion?

Of course the disclaimers you made put that in perspective. Perhaps you were just tring to be provocative with the subject, I don't know.
