UI improvement: Rally points for spawning players

Departing from this thread, instead of automatic waypoints, how about reusing the rally point for a command station to set a move order for the fresh spawns next to it? It would be an easy, non automatic, entirely at the commanders latitude tactical guidance to direct fresh spawned players towards the most urgent objective.

Additionally, maybe it would be possible to make waypoints obey Phase Gates as well?

I did not understand what you're trying to say with that but I do agree that the automatic waypointing system should indeed take phase gates into account when calculating the (shortest) route.

I think he means that you can select an IP, and then right click a position to automatically give a marine that spawns in that IP the waypoint to that location.
Phase Gates would do the same, if a marine steps through he gets a waypoint automatically directing him to where the commander put the PG rally.

Correct me if I interpreted that wrong.

Last time I checked you can already do this, not sure about phase gates though.

It actually came to me when I was trying to fall asleep. :) I guess it would be useful but I bet you that not nearly every commander uses the rally point function.

you can already set rally points at IPs, marines would get a normal move order when respawning. phasegates don't have this functionality
