<div class="IPBDescription">No 2 objects can exist in the same place!</div>As Alien or Marine spawning during an attack on base results in a congestion of spawning and exploitable frags. This factor is not FUN.
A solution that could be applied is the use of a shock-wave that eminates from spawn portals prior to spawning. The shock would cause a knock-back. (And upgradable?)
And for the alien, it makes sense that when an embryo hatches a splatter of acidic spores does area damage or a black cloud.

    Well, the marine side of this is already in the game. Infantry Portals and Phase Gates push enemies back when a player spawns/phases in.

    The acid splash is an interesting thought though, might cut down a little bit on egg camping. Although why would an alien spawning from an egg splatter acid but killing an empty egg would not?

    It doesn't really push them it only really stops them from occupying the space of the spawned player.

    Yeah it would have to be on all eggs for realism, interesting idea...makes a little bit of sense.
    Spawn egg camping can be more of an issue in pub games (where its often the result of team stack) but seen as a valid tactic for comp play.
    Perhaps if they do add this they need to consider a server side option (or perhaps some in the mod community could make this idea the "n00b friendly server mod").

    Bigger issue is the upgrades being sniped so easily for aliens, 1 marine can easily take out at least 1 of your upgrades.

    I don't see how this would help anything. We already have minor pushback, adding pushback to eggs aswell would not help since marines are ranged attackers. When we had strong pushback, it made it near impossible to destroy phase gates.

    lvl 1 hive upgrade : eggs pop with an umbra cloud - both empty eggs that are destroyed and spawning eggs.


    that reminds me - anyone remember the rolling egg suggestion? You could roll your egg around the hive (to a safe spot) while you are evolving or waiting to spawn LOL :)

    i think he mean a push back only in the moment if a player is respawning in eggs or ip's or using the phase gate. So no permanent pushback. I think it is a great idea!

    There shouldnt be any kind of pushback or spawnprotection. If you allow the enemy to get all the way into your base, you very much deserve to get shot/eaten. Same goes for the phasegate. Its ridiculously hard to take them down because marines can just phase through even though theres 3 fades on the gate. If you leave the gate unprotected and allow aliens to get all over it, you should get grinded down if you phase in.

    One problem is also the way mines work, they detonate eachother. This makes ips and pgs easy to camp and impossible to mine, so you need to add crappy pushback mechanics that bring a lot more additional problems.

    Rest of the problems originate from crappy collisions between players.
